A bit of background about Canadian regulations regarding high capacity magazines (although people seemed to know what I meant by clips!):
The maximum magazine capacity is:
- 5 cartridges for most magazines designed for rifles that shoot centre-fire ammunition in a semi-automatic fashion
- 3 rounds for shotguns. Tubular magazines that hold more are legal, but must be plugged to limit capacity to three rounds while hunting.
- 10 cartridges for most handgun magazines

So, back to the original subject...who has a custom handgun holder or tray in their 4Runner? There's got to be a cool custom 4runner "behind the seat" or "center console gun holder" out there somewhere.

I have a clip on nylon holster under the steering wheel and in thinking about magnet style for the side of the center console.

You're right, I don't know much about those type of guns. Never taken a class or anything! In my defense, my first post was just in reaction to someone saying that people should call their congress representative to fight any new gun laws so soon after Sandy Hook. Those new laws could simply be more mental health screening, etc.
Anyway, this thread is dominated by those who appear to be unwilling to even consider improving the well being of other men, women and children through legislation.

So Mr4Runner10, we do not have a "Assault Weapons" problem, we have a mental health problem.
You can look/confirm these at the FBI's website, in 2011:
There were ~325 murders with rifles. (This is all rifles, not just so-called "assault rifles")
There were ~700 murders with fists or other body parts.
There were ~1700 murders with knives
There were ~6000 murders with handguns
Not from the FBI, but a couple other interesting statistics:
There are ~50 children under 10 murdered by their parents every week. There is a Newtown every two days, in essence. Horrific.
There are 16,000 deaths (in my opinion murders) every year caused by drunk drivers.
The Newtown killer could have run down 20 kids waiting to get on a bus, with his Honda. Would we be discussion banning Hondas?
All are equally horrific if they happen to a loved one. Personally, I had a step-brother murdered when we were kids. He was hanged, so don't tell me how you think I will feel about losing a loved one to a murder. It was not the rope that killed Danny - it was the HUMAN with a mental health problem. This changes nothing regarding my opinion on guns in America.
The 2nd Amendment in the US Constitution was included for one reason, the citizens protection from a tyrannical government. Period. I want the very options for defending myself and my family, should things ever come to it.

Still don't understand why dumbsh€ts blame the tool used and not the jackass loser using it! All these mass shooters are cowards that shoot themselves when any sign of force shows up. Might need to look a little deeper into what's causing these POS's to go off.

Murder is already illegal - so how's a legal solution working out?

I'm really sorry to hear about the loss of your step brother. That's truly awful. I definitely agree the health care system in the states is a huge issue in all of this, but I think that's a new thread
. In Canada, we don't need to worry about how to pay for seeing doctors, etc. Maybe that's the answer in all of this. Who knows... It just seems like something needs to change to TRY to stop these shootings.

I like the idea of mounting a rubber covered rare-earth magnet on the inside of the console to "stick" a handgun to. There'd be no draw stroke, just reach in and grab it. Only problem is the trigger is exposed and poses a safety hazard.

And for the OP sorry still reading blocks are great all around shooters. People say get revolvers for people that won't shoot a lot nothing to jam or mess up on you when your not used to your gun. In my humble opinion can't beat a good 1911! Might not have as many rounds don't matter when a lead ashtray hits them in the head.

You are 100% correct - we have a mental health issue and we must address it, and we must address now. Banning guns, or alcohol, or Hondas is not going to stop crazy people from harming others. A determined crazy person will find a way...
