Handle blackout issue

So made the attempt to blackout the handles, and they are turning out somewhat grainy and textured. I sanded them down using 220 just enough to get them abrasive, i then tacked clothed them a few times. I'm doing this in my garage where the temp here in north florida is mid 90s with definite humidity which may have a factor. Ive applied probably close to 10 coats and these are the results...

Yikes! did you shake the can well before hand?

10 coats is little excessive. You should do a max of 3 or 4 I would suggest. When I did mine, I cleaned the surface with acetone. Maybe you have dust in the garage? I would suggest closing the door as well.

If you don't like the issue, I use googone to remove paint from the areas I dont like it.

yea i think i figured out the problem, on the second set of handles my first coat i did real light, but then the 2nd and 3rd coats i put on i did thicker and and nice and even and now its lookin smooth. the first time i did it i put a real real light first coat and all the subsequent coats were just as light i think all the paint just kept accumulating and instead of laying down evenly it was just piling on top of each other. Good call on the goo gone that took off all the old paint quick and easy

I had the same issue on the passenger side handles when I blacked mine out. They were all gritty and grainy but the thing is that I used the 3-4 coat method here. But on the driver's side, I used a 7-8 coat method and it turned out beautifully, so I don't know what the deal is. However, most recently I painted my Metra dash kit flat black using that 7-8 coat method (which worked for the driver-side handles) but this time it turned out grainy/gritty again. So I'm not sure what the issue is or what we could be doing wrong.
