Hard to find Specs, Info & Measurements on 231mm 13WL Tundra Calipers & Rotors

I'm in the same boat also. I'm sending back the MTs but I'm trying to decide between the ProComp 7069s with 4" backspacing or just putting .75" spacers on my stock Limited 5 stars. I had a less than ideal experience when I had them on before (wobble at different speeds), but I'm wondering if I spend even more time placing and torquing the spacers at a painstakingly precise order, I can get buy til I purchase aftermarket wheels that fit. The only reservation I have with 4" backspacing is 285s throwing rocks and mud on the paint.

I did order the Tundra brake pad kit 04465-AZ001-TM. The pads that came with the kit do not look like the pads you used. Mine have much less surface area. In fact they look worse than the NAPA pads. The outer edges are completely cut down. Anyone seen this? I ordered them off Amazon from a Toyota dealer. The picture they showed had complete surface area. I think I will return the kit and buy the pads and shims individually if these are the normal pads that come with the kit.

NOTE: The kit 04465-AZ001-TM does NOT include full-size brake pads. This is why they are such a bargain. If you want the full-size pads as shown in Big Fish's first posts go with the part number 04465-35290. Shim kit is 04945-0C030.

This is bizarre. The pads that came in my kit, I believe, were full size. There was no chamfering along the edges. The pad material was even with the outer circumference of the rotor and were as long as the gap between the slider pins on. Did you take any pictures?

I thought the 5 stars fit over the 231MM calipers??

They do with a little grinding. I was just hoping for a little wider stance, thats why i had the .75" spacers on the stock wheels previously. After the unnerving wobble at speed I decided to take them off.

Brake Pad Kit and Caliper Painting?

Here is a picture of the style of pads I received in the kit. I returned the kit and purchased the pads and shims separately for twice the cost.

On another note, I purchased Autozone calipers. They feel somewhat greasy. I was wondering if others have come across this on remanufactured calipers. If so, clean them with Simple Green, or such? Also, do they need to be painted? They seem to me to be a dark gray cast iron. I was thinking about picking up some of the VHT paint. Any concerns with getting some overspray on any of the parts?

Yeah, that is NOT the same pad that was in my kit. Perhaps the internet dealer pieced the kit together with cheap parts?

Just to clarify, this is not accurate. 5 Star wheels clear the tundra brakes, no grinding required. I have both. The 5 stars I am referring to are shown below. (thanks to Brilliant for the picture I borrowed; his picture is photo-shopped but that is not relevant to this conversation.)

Ditto; I also have the 5-stars and there is plenty of clearance for me - I'm talking at least 1/4 of an inch in most places.

You just need to order for a 06 Toyota Tundra, 2 Rotors, a set of Pads, and 2 Calipers, and possibly spacers depending on what rims you have.

I'm about to purchase some 5 stars (specifically in preparation of the brake mod) and that post startled me! I am in no way doubting BFAD, however, the last picture really clarifies which rims were talking about... 00'-02' LTD's. Thanks guys!

I believe both of those pads are ceramic, and at those prices you might as well get the pads from Toyota since they include reusable shims. Or you can piece the shims and semi-metallic pads together from toyota ~ 100. Semi-metallic : more stopping power.

The calipers are about the right price, same with the rotors; try NAPA since they have 10% off with AAA membership.

Without reading over all the pages again. I think people said stay away from the two. It seems a lot of people are ordering from Napa. I bought calipers from Autozone, and bought the Powerstop setup for heavy towing. Comes with rotors, and pads. Powerstop K2324-36 I know a few people are also running OEM Toyota, and Brembo Rotors.

Autozone calipers

I ordered calipers from Autozone - both part # C9951. Now I'm thinking they cannot both be used for left and right side due to bleed plug. Is this correct? The other part # is C9950. On their website they list the weight in 2 different locations for each caliper. The weight matches for both calipers at 14.25 lbs in one spot, but differ from each other at 14.0 and 14.7 lbs in another spot. Let me know if I fouled up and need to return one C9951 and get a C9950. I'm pretty sure I do. Glad I didn't start this project quite yet.

I have noticed more people go with the Napa set up on here I just don't have one near by, maybe tomorrow ill make a trek out and get a quote.

Both the Oriely and AZ looked identical.

I should be good after I return 1 C9951 and exchange for C9950, right? I believe one is a left-side caliper and the other is a right-side caliper. I've read you want to make sure the bleed plug is at the top of the caliper when installed. Please confirm.

I just bought the calipers at AZ so it'd be easy returning the core, and bought the pads and rotors online. You can usually find free shipping and no tax.
