I'm going to be doing this upgrade shortly with the split 3 spokes and the 1/4" spacer. Actually, I'm thinking of having the shop at work make me a set of 4 hub centric spacers out of aluminum and I'd get them anodized some ridiculous color like purple (to keep the g/f happy while I spend money.)
It seems like people are swapping the studs but I have no desire to do this. The only mention is to get better bite during wheel installation. If that's the only reason then I'll stick with the stock studs. 1/4 less thread in the nuts isn't going to make much of a difference regarding ability to hold torque. What is it, 2.5 - 3 threads? Thoughts?
