Hard to find Specs, Info & Measurements on 231mm 13WL Tundra Calipers & Rotors

I did not upgrade the brake lines. Regular length lines should work just fine as the stock ones lines up perfectly with the threaded hole on the new calipers.

Looks like I misquoted the light output in the other post. They claim 450 lumen! You'll need to splice in more wire since the leads don't reach.

For those who are running steel 16x7 wheels like Pro Comps with 4.5' backspace, they will not clear the calipers. Upgrade does require wheel spacers.

In addition I would stay away from Powerstop or similar slotted/drilled rotors. Slotts/holes are there for "cooling" and dessipation of brake dust and gas, but modern brake pads accommodate for that. It's better to go with a brembo black or similar

Split 3 spokes

231s wont clear those rims. You'll either need to grind the caliper, grind the rim or use spacers. Or you can do 199 Tundra brakes.

Or they might not fit at all. The split 3's came in 15" and 16". If you have the 16" you can run spacers, grind, or run the 199mm calipers. If you have the 15 inch you will need new wheels.

JRZEE and JBURT, thanks for the replies and solid info. I have the 16"s but don't want to grind rims or calipers or put spacers. Is it still an improvement using the 199mm rotors?

I didn't use speed bleeders. Just normal 2 person pump and flush

They are not required, especially for the fronts, however, I would recommend them for the rears. I have been using a Motive power bleeder for years and this is the first vehicle that has had any issues. It was only the rear, but, the check valve for the rear circuit can get a bit testy and it is built into the ABS module.

Also, great thread! I literally just ordered all OEM front conversion parts and new OEM rear drums and shoes. After dealing with a half dozen AZ warranties and finally having to take new in box drums to be turned, the damn things warped.

Threw in the towel, all OEM big Tundra brakes, all OEM rear drums. :drum:

Came here to mention speed bleeders aren't required but not a bad idea but my Napa drums weren't true out of the box either. Drives me crazy and I still need to get them turned.

I didn't use power bleeders and had no issues bleeding any corner nor did I have a Motive power bleeder (hard to imagine life without it now).

I used Power Stop S2712 calipers for my upgrade and have no complaints 5 months and 4,000 miles later.

Shipping? From dallas to CA it's about $15 per rotor.

Thats probably the dumbest thing I've heard today. Drag racing is a completely different thing than regular driving. Thousands of people run spacers with no issues. Tons on this website alone. I ran them on my g37s and never had a failure in all of the races or auto crossing I did with it. I've never understood why people don't like spacers. Get the right ones and they work fine.

Oooold post, I know, but the reason some folks don't like spacers (aside from the risk of them loosening up, creating issues with short studs, adding unsprung weight, etc.) is that they change the loading on your wheel bearings, and not for the better.

They also change your scrub radius, which makes for harder steering (which you probably don't notice with power steering, but you will certainly understand if you ever drive manual steering). Your rig can't complain but the effects are the same, you're putting unnecessary loads on your rig. And there are probably other effects the engineers could explain ...

I'm not trying to change your mind. What works for you, works. But there are better, safer ways. Just sayin' ... Cheers!

I just emailed an eBay vendor about the 16x8 trail team knockoffs. Probably just going to pull the trigger and order them. Just installed 231mm Tundra (Stop Tech) upgrade today and my stock rims don't fit.
