Hard to find Specs, Info & Measurements on 231mm 13WL Tundra Calipers & Rotors

Would these be OK for rotors? The seem to be equivalent to OP's 43512-0C011.

Also, wow! Why are the calipers so expensive!?

I bought junkyard calipers through here: Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market
Then I rebuilt them with the help of this video: YouTube

The caliper rebuild kit part number is 04479-60081. So for $80 for the calipers and $20 for the rebuild kit, I had OEM calipers on the cheap.

I have a 97 4Runner (Limited 2WD). It has 220,xxx miles on it right now.
Here are the parts numbers (someone please confirm/correct if these are the optimal ones):

04465-35290 (Brake Pads)
43512-0C011 (Rotors)
04945-0C030 (Shim Kit Anti Squea)
47730-0C022 (Caliper, Left
47750-0C022 (Caliper, Right)

Now, while I am at, do I need to replace anything else? I remember seeing many people get new steel brake lines. What is the part number for the brake lines?

Also, should I change lower ball joints, shock/struts, and coils? Let me know if there is something else I can do when I'm already in there.
Y'all think I do YouTube this? If so, any pointers to the upgrade threads would be awesome.

Finally got some rubber on my TRD Trail Team 16" Wheels. Planning to do the 231 Tundra brake upgrade soon. Do the 231 calipers clear the TRD FJ wheels?

2005 Tundra Break Upgrade

Hi Guys!

So I finally did the 2005 TBU. I went with the 231mm- 13WL
On stock 16" OEM 4-Runner 5-Spoke "Flower" Wheels, found on '01-02 models. I did zero modifications to the wheels or calipers to make it fit.
I've been driving for about an hour; the breaking feels stronger, controllable, bites immediately, and no more gliding to a stop.
There is a little more peddle travel that will take some getting used to.
I've owed the 4Runner over 10 years and should have definitely done this modification a lot earlier.

Parts Used
231mm-13WL Calipers From Auto Zone- C9951(Driver) C9950(Passenger) 89.99x2
OEM Rotors- 43512-0C011 2x$64.37
OEM Brake Pads- 04465-35290 $63.75

For those that are considering wheel swaps away from 15" wheels to clear the calipers, I'd strongly suggest skipping the 16" options and moving straight to 17". Tire availability is decreasing in 16" and the price for them is increasing. 17" is still a current truck size and tire availability is excellent as is pricing.

Several different stock rim options. We need a better description or a picture to help you. Since you have a Limited you already have the larger wheel cylinders in the rear. Just make sure you have them adjusted properly. Make sure when you bleed the brakes you have the key in the on position. I suggest buying some speed bleeders and a length of hose that fits over the bleeders. I flushed my brake fluid when I did this upgrade.

Are the 231s a scam?

Pulled 199s from local pyp. Bought Centric pads and Rotors. I started to second guess myself and for $150 more I realized I could upgrade to 231s from Napa.

So I ordered the calipers and same line Centric pads from Rock Auto. I was a little shocked when I compared the 199 pads to the 231. They’re the same length (and height) of pad, the backing plates are just longer! Looking at other pictures of 231 pads on rock auto, they all seem to be the same

199 top, 231 bottom.

I’m inclined to ditch the 231s and just use the 199s after seeing this

Tundra Year Model for 199s

I've read all these posts, and they're great. I'm looking to do 199s and do a caliper rebuild myself. I cannot seem to find the year model of the tundras and/or Sequoias that would have 199s as stock. (I thought I had seen a post here, but cannot find it with search.) Hoping someone here can post those year models.

Try putting a 2001 Tundra caliper into this site: Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market the next page will ask what size you're looking for. I have no idea what the part number would be for the rebuild kit for the 13WE calipers though. Maybe try reading through this thread: 199mm Tundra Brake parts
