Has anybody ADDED a rear sliding cargo tray?

My dealership (parts guy) said it was impossible to add the sliding tray unless it was done at the factory. He claims the floor pan of the receiving vehicle would need to be removed/replaced due to missing cross braces and/or structure below the floor pan.

I find this hard to believe.

Did your's just bolt right in?

I'm only asking as I'm selling mine... I'd like to make sure it'll actually work for the next person!

Yes it bolted right in, Just have to drill two holes on the floor of the rear most bolts on each side of the slide/track(closest to the rear door)...if that makes sense....

Yup. I only wanted him to ball park price (on the parts) so I could value mine (I didn't tell him that). He gave me many reasons why it was just impossible with out major modifications to the floor plan. So I thanked him and hung up.

I may have bought it for 250.00 or 300.00 at the time...

All the parts cost roughly $1350 when bought separately after the fact new from the dealer... I've priced it out several times since no 4Runners in my region come with the slider. I'll post the parts list when I get back home from golfing....

How much distance do you think there is between the rear deck body panel and the grey panel in this pic? I'm looking to cut the square area out and store items between the body and the bottom of the sliding deck.

I'd say there is about 1 1/5" of space between the deck and the tray under the drawer...

First) That is a sweet deck/storage combo....
Second) Nice use of a bottle opener as the pull... extremely practical!!
Third) You have to post a build thread on that! If not, at least a "parts used" and specs (drawer sliders, materials, etc) so other's can knock you off!!

Just use 2" rigid foam insulation. It flushes out almost perfect with an angle cut at the seat to eliminate any gap.
