Late Model 22re Throttle Body Swap iam at the local pick and pulls often and my 22 is in the process of being be bulit wondering wht you opinons are and if its worth it

Just heard about it now...
I don't think there would be enough advantage to swap it out.
I doubt you will notice a gain in performance or mileage.

After reading it, your best bet is getting your TB over-bored but just for throttle response. You could probably gain a bit of that just by cleaning the one you have currently.

I did the swap and it was fantastic...as long as your not expecting huge gains you won't be dissapointed in the abulity to rev up faster/ better throttle response. The best thing about it actually is you lose that electric controlled idle up valve for the superior bi-mettalic spring type.

I doubt the angle of the TB has much of an effect. The late model design does have an advantage over the early model though in regards to placement of the EGR tunnel. Late model tunnel was placed outside of the incoming intake charge.
Don't do this swap for a performance gain, do it for the improved idle up valve and consider any performance gain a bonus.

You lost me. When you say "intake charge", you're talking about the volume of air coming in? And the EGR was in the way of that airflow on the older models?

Exactly, if you have a early model upper plenum you can see the EGR tunnel/boss hanging down just behind the T.B. On the late model it is tucked up in the top left corner of the plenum out of the way of the incoming air flow.
I wouldn't get hung up on the "improved mileage" "more power" benefit, you will see more butt dyno from an electric fan than this swap. The only reason I did it was my idle up valve was shot and did not want to pursue slapping another of those turds on, the late model swap was a no brainer for me.
