Has anyone painted their 14+ fender flares black?

I thought they should as well, I taped everything off and sprayed it with Rust-Oleum "paint for plastic".

I knew I liked the look so took my time and did it right the first time, and only one time..

You are my hero. I ordered the rustoleum textured plastic black already and I really want to paint em. HUMM, I know I will like the look too, especially when the bumpers and sliders are on.

I also kinda wonder what the mirror caps would look like done texture black. They get hit offroad quite a bit.

I just checked, painter's tape will fit between the fenders and the fender flares making painting much easier to pull off well.

I totally agree Toyota should've kept the black flares on the trail editions. Main reason I added the Bushwacker flares to mine. Some people don't like the aftermarket flares, and honestly I don't either on some colors, but I like the look on my magnetic grey.

If I didn't buy the aftermarket flares, I would probably go the route of plastidip if you aren't 100% sold on the look, or remove them and paint them if you are completely sure you want the look.

The painting was quick, it was the prep that took half the day. I used playing cards.

I am very sold on the look! Also, I just pre-ordered the Safari snorkel that will conflict with the bushwhackers, I like them too. I'm leaning heavily back toward paint after seeing the last post and checking the clearance for masking tape on the flare. My bumpers are imperfect and will be hacked up one day soon so I am not as worried about them.

Plasti-Dipped mine as well. Been over a year and it still looks great imo

I'm using OEM factory unpainted flares with a 3m clear bra over them

how did you take the existing flare off and new ones on? did you have to get new clips? same goes for the folks that plastidipped the fenders

I know this is an older thread but has anyone out there with a black 5th gen painted their flares silver/grey to break up the black? Kind of thinking of what the 3rd gen limiteds looked like or even the older sequoias. I wish my photoshop skills were better! Thanks

For the Plasti-Dip guys; did anyone of you use the Glossifier for more UV resistance?
