hatch lock wiring?

does anyone know which wires in the rear hatch come from the driver door switch to lock and unlock the gate (all locks). all of the wiring diagrams I can find show the front and back doors but none mention the hatch, liftgate whatever you want to call it.

That's definitely going to vary from year to year and possibly even the trim level might matter. What's the year and trim level of your 4Runner?

I think this should have what you need on page 7 (78). Back door ECU/back door lock motor. You might want to print it off so you can lay it all out in a horizontal line to make tracing the wires in the diagram easier.

There's also a communication bus between the BCM and back door ECU. Read the description and operation for it as well.

ok, the lock mechanisms in the wiring diagram are strange to me. there are 2 wires that go to the motor in the mechanism and 2 more that go to a switch in the mechanism. the motor side go to the ecm for the body control computer if i followed them right (they were about 6 pages apart so i could have messed up) does the ecu give a polatity and switch positive and negative so a single switch trigger then does both lock and unlock. im not seeing a solenoid in the mechanism and expected a two way with two positives for lock and unlock going to a common ground. if anyone knows the trigger for lock and unlock in this system it would save a lot of trial and error.

Only two wires to the solenoid and the polarity is swapped between the two wires for lock and unlock. The second pair of wires is solenoid position verification, used for feedback (beep) to the module and (if equipped) the alarm.
