Hauling a Dirtbike. INSIDE the Cab?

I'm curious if anyone hauls their dirtbike with their runner. On a hitch or trailer? I want to go to sand lake with some buddies in a month and everyone will be driving their truck(with dirtbikes and quads) and i'll have my runner. I could probably get my dad to go half with me on a 100$ craiglist carrier for the bike. We've got 3, all Hondas. A 230, 150 and 100. We normally trail ride so I've got the 150 that I man handle anywhere I go. I'll probably take his 230 because there are no tight trails I will be going on.
I'm gonna measure the dirtbike and inside of my cab when I head over to my dads. I'm curious as to what you guys do? And of course pictures..

I like to get into abandoned cars up there and take pictures. Kinda my thing.

Bike is normally hauled by his 1993 chevy 1500 4x4, owned since 94 by my dad.

Full size dirtbikes no way. These little Hondas maybe. Height will be the biggest issu. t the very least it is going to have to lay mostly on its side. I am sure it can be done depending on how committed you are. If you remove both wheels and lay it on its side I bet it will fit. Just make sure you think about how you are going to keep it from leaking gas all over your interior. Little 3 tray style trailers are a great investment. Good luck.

no way the 230 will fit inside. its going to be too tall.

get the hitch carrier, they're great.

x2 on hitch hauler. Can pick one up new at harbor freight for cheap and they're rated to 500lbs (though I wouldn't load it that high...) :becky:

the dirtbike isn't near me or I would have been able to atleast check the height. but Now that I see yours on a carrier it won't fit on the inside. Looks like i'm gonna have to buy a cheap on on CL :thumb:

I may have a small hitch carrier that you could borrow. How long is the bike? I'll measure it when I get off work and text you.

You'd be lucky if the 100 fit in standing up, my mountain bike only fits when I take the front tire and seat off, and it isn't very tall.

Back in Asia, my Honda 90cc (Super Cub) wouldn't fit in my Range Rover, so a larger 230 would never stand a chance in a 4runner.

Just for kicks I took a look at my CRF 230M (enduro version) and yeah, no way it's going in the 3rd gen.

Yeah my tilt rail trailer is perfect for bikes
I see them pop up once in a while for $400-600. I love mine.

I really need to get one of those hitch carriers for my 230. I always have to take my dads tundra when I go ride.

definitely go with the hitch carrier, it will pay for itself after all the cleaning you won't have to do. I carried a 185 for a long time, i will be putting airbags in on my next runner tho worth the 100 bucks.

Get the receiver mount and not have to worry about registration or storage
