From the day I bought the T4R ive been having issues with busting the top stud on the rear shocks.
The first and second time my rear shock popped out it was with the Bilstien 5150. Then second time the stud actually broke as u can see it in the pic. This happened on the back side of cleghorn and had to do the second half of the trail with only the driverside rear shock.
Rear suspension set up at the time: OME 891 coils, rear swaybar connected, no panhard drop.
Ok maybe those 5150s that were RECOMMENDED for those OME 891s were to short. So I bought some "extended lenth" Rough Country shocks from wheelers offroad that were recommended for a 4Runner w/ 0-3in. of lift.
Ran them for a while and it was fine.
These are actually a little longer then the 5150s. And they are the same length as a stock FJZ80 rear shock. Kool. I decided to put in some LC 8.5 wraps that I picked up. Ran a number of trails in the past couple of months with this set up including Gold Mtn 2 times, Pilot Rock, Bullfrog/Cake Walk back and forth, 2 trips out wheeling in Calico, 1 time up Dishpan and 1 time through John Bull. This is also my daily driver.
It was last Sunday that I finally snapped not one but BOTH rear shock studs goin up Dishpan again. It was at the top of Dishpan before you hit Crab Flats when I noticed the clunking. Pulled both rear shocks off and pogo sticked it all the way back home lol. Man was a bouncy ride. Imagine a lowrider hitting its switches but only I was on a fire road traveling at a moderate speed. :driving:

How am I snapping these studs so often. Anyone else having this problem? I know ppl run LC shocks with LC coils with no sway bars and, from the countless searches, haven't herd of this issue.
Here is the pic of the broken shocks along with some flex and stuffed pics w/ no rear shocks while airing back up. Lucky I have a used set of KYB rear shocks off my buddies LC. So thats what Im running now.
