Headlight high beam position now low beam, low beam position no lights.

I have a 99 SR5 with about 390K on the chassis. Last night I noticed the headlight column switch lever position in low beam I have no headlights just side markers and tails. When I switch to high beam position I get low beam without the blue high beam dash indicator. Is this just a bad column switch? I didn't find anything in forum search. Headlight filaments should be fine, replaced both a couple months ago. If anybody has any experience with this or knows of other possibilities in this area circuit wiring, and has wiring diagram, would be appreciated.
I do have a 2000 SR5 parts rig I can pull switch out of, also a 98 SR5 as a backup.

Had a similar issue with mine. Ended up replacing the cluster with a used unit and also the main DRL relay underneath the dash on the driver's side. I wasn't able to fix it/track it down myself even with a ton of help from members here, so I ended up taking it to a Toyota specialty shop in the end. You might be able to pull some helpful info from my thread: Low/High beam inop

Ok thanks. Yours is a 2000 with DRL, My 99 doesn't have DRL, but it actually has a 2000 cluster I put in it a few years back been working fine. But I'll look into the cluster also, I have a couple extra. I looked at the wiring diagram in your link, its a 2000 with a bunch of DRL stuff, wish I could get a 99 wiring diagram of the light circuit.

What happens when you flash the highs? As it bypasses the cluster and uses a different part of the switch that might confirm the bulbs are good.

Below is the NON-DRL EWD for a 2000. It is identical to the '99 NON-DRL EWD. I have the '99 EWD manual in paper and I checked. '99 also had the DRL setup but it was only sold that way in Canada. The Canadian '99 is identical to the US 2000.

I have looked really hard at this and I don't see how this fail could be anything but the stalk switch. The cluster would kill both high and low. There is no relay other than the main headlight which would also kill both.That said, I would never swap a switch without first putting in new bulbs or checking for voltage at the bulb plug. Sometimes they die fast, and a lot of people don't notice a dead one until the second one goes.

All bets are off if an alarm is wired into the headlights.

When I flash the highs, the low kicks on just like the low is on in the high position. In the low position, no lights at all. I don't get the dash blue high indicator in any position. I'll try the stalk switch 1st, after double checking the headlights, they're fairly new and I didn't notice one out. If no go, I'll hit the other things. When I bought it years ago it had a gaffed alarm system that I meticulously removed and then solder repaired harness, so if need be, I'll check the harness repairs.

Sounds like it's most likely is the combo switch, but give a good check of your wiring under the dash and out in the engine compartment. Bad grounds can do some weird stuff.
