I've had 2 4Runners without moonroofs, exactly what I needed for headroom.
My current is a 2005 Limited. At that time I was able to order custom without the sunroof and without that rear spoiler I don't like. Both were "optional" but pre-built into every car in US inventory at the time.
And I wanted V6 and navigation.
Some dealers were not even willing to take a custom order. Some said "we won't know if it works until it shows up... or doesn't". Some wanted to charge a premium for the privilege of placing a custom order (I thought the opposite; cheaper for them since they won't carry it in inventory for a single day...) It worked fine; came in a couple months or so. Less time than my custom furniture...
Anyway, I am very sorry to see that the spoiler and moonroof are both "Standard" for the limited now. Fingers crossed that they are "optional" in 2012; were these standard in 2010 too?
I wonder if the stereo/nav will get upgraded in 2012... guess I'll wait and see for these reasons
I guess I could load up an SR5. Seems you can't get the keyless start button option for SR5. Whiny, but I got a little attached to that feature in my 1-2 weeks with a new Toyota loaner while my 2005 head gasket was replaced...
I haven't searched to see if people are able to install that keyless feature from factory parts after the fact..
