Heater control valve

Has anyone had any luck with any aftermarket heater control valves? I bought one off of Amazon (four seasons) and it was leaking within a month. I returned it and figured maybe I got a lemon. Replacement lasted about 5 months before I noticed it started leaking.

If the damn OEM part wasn't a hundred bucks (yikes) I would have just went that route.

Or does someone have a lead on a good deal on the OEM part?

I have used these guys tons... shipping can be expensive on large items but usually small stuff is pretty good.

not sure what year you have because I think there are some differences. this would be for my 97

the funny thing is if these guys have the part, it's usually cheaper and they can ship it from the UAE faster than I can get stuff from Chicago to Minneapolis.
 
I went with OEM heater valve and done once and call it good!

Yep.. partsouq.com is the way to go. I got 3 shipments and all came to my door just in 4 days after placing the order.

For $11 shipping, add some other small items you think will be needed in the future: drive belts, light bulbs, valve cover gaskets, spark plug tube seals.. PCV valve, vacuum hoses
 
I have to ask Mike if you have replaced those heater hoses? I remember some forum member who despite using an OEM valve still had leaks over time. Turned out to be the hose as the culprit.

But aftermarket parts are a crapshoot. The other day I was in Advance to get a Moog outer and inner tie rod plus the adjusting sleeve for a Chevy truck. Despite being made in the US, to get those three parts to mate correctly it took me and the counter dude ten minutes and opening fourteen boxes before finally achieving success.

On my Runner very few (fingers crossed) components have failed in 320K miles, look at my sig.

The heater valve was leaking slightly (just crud on outside) at 290, so I replaced it with OEM. I don't expect to see that part fail again.

All of the heater hoses by the firewall have all been replaced. I installed new ones when I was swapping engines. I had to replace one of those hoses on my original engine and it was an absolute nightmare to get them on/off which is why I just put all new ones on the donor engine.

It's definitely leaking from the valve, specifically, from where the valve pivots . That is where the first aftermarket one leaked also.

I'm going to check out this partsoq thing, $60 is a little easier to swallow.

Just ordered it from partsouq, just under $61. I'm done screwing around with aftermarket junk valves.

I usually only buy OEM stuff but I figured for this, an aftermarket one would be fine. NOPE!

The valve for my '97 is $33.67 plus shipping at Amayama. I ordered 5 similarly small items and the total shipping is $20.88.
 
I have 2 years on my four seasons one with no leaks yet. Hit or miss parts. The advanced auto one is a reboxed four seasons FYI
 
Bought one from Oreilly's and its been installed for 3-4 years now with no problems.

I really wonder if people are using hammers to install.
