I apologize if this is a repeat thread but search function wasn't working properly for me.

My dad has a 2000 3.4L 4-runner and it didn't pass smog. I need to know which o2 sensor to replace for Bank 1. I'm pretty sure it's the one before the cat but maybe i'm wrong.

Also Pep Boys wants $640 for the o2 sensor before the cat. this seems like an outrageous price. Also if anyone knows where i can get them cheaper that would be great.
many thanks for any help.

That's crazy. The front O2 sensor is about $150 from Evan at Northridge Toyota. Just tell him you're a yotatech member. Normal cost is a little over $200.

You're right, it's the front 02 sensor, which is really an A/F sensor.

BTW, I know all this as I just swapped mine out. It's real easy; about a 10 minute job.

99, what part of the country you live in? if they salt the roads, may want to start putting pb blaster on now while waiting for your sensor. also, check out urd's web site, they go for under $90 if you dont have CA emitions

well unfortunately my parents had to get it done asap. The grage they took it to got the part for cheaper and since it had to be re smoged by a certain date they got it done there. I just hate it when I could have saved them money on labor by doing it all myself.
