Help me... 4wd confusion

Last week, while waiting for my 07 to be serviced, I had a chance to test-drive 2010 SR5. While my overall impression was "good", I felt like the center diff was locked when making a turn in the parking lot in 4Hi. When I asked a salesman about, I got a blank stare and a shrug.

Its real simple, you need the Limited thanks to toyota stripping that away to go back to its roots.

SR5 is fine for most, but Torsen is better for alot of reasons, and number one is wifey safety when you are not around.

That sounds like a different type of AWD system -- that is, if the rear wheels slipped, then it would engage and send torque to the front axle. True and that's the big difference.

That is a very different system than the Torsen center diff on the 4th gen and 5th gen Limited. In normal driving, the Torsen sends torque to both axles.

True... In 4hi it works more like a modern AWD not a full-time 4wd. In 4lo it's the same as a T4R in 4lo (w/the center diff locked).

M1911: yes, low speed turning on dry roads in 4H is indeed awkward, clumsy almost. Could have sworn my wife took out the neighbour's trash cans backing out the other day after I left it in 4H.
