Help Me Choose Rims

ive looked for some of that kinda like the black pearl but with dupi color. i know pep boys has a huge selection of paints. but ya man thats always a tough choice haha

I was thinking about doing something like that. Either a flat black or a gloss black. Do they sell black lugs?

Do you have to clear coat this Duplicolor? How long will it last. I'm in SC so we have pretty much zero salt, pretty warm weather, etc...

I would probably clear coat regardless. Dunno, just seems to make sense and go with the whole "better safe than sorry". If I ever find enough time I might spray mine flat-black.
 
I really like the vdrive MB wheels. My 4runner will be more street than anything else and i'm actually saving up for some those vdrive wheels but they would still look really good with some nice black nubby tires on there too. But like everyone says its all about what the buyer wants, in the end it doesnt really matter about our opinions. lol.but if it were me i would go with either of the MB rims you posted.

yes dupli-color makes a clear coat. and i 2nd clearcoating it regardless. it should protect from fading and from water too.

man those 5 spoke look good powder coated. I almost wish i would of powder coated mine or got some other factory toyota wheel! dah :bonk:

I'm having a hard time finding places that PC. Do most painting places do it?

Can they be painted with regular paint?
 
I just called around to a few places and they said they have to get to the bare metal. Would these stock wheels have to have anything done to them?
 
I went to Discout Tire a second ago and looked at the V Drive. They look pretty good, but are $450ish after tax and what not.

I also found a place to PC the rims for $35 each and I don't have to have them clean before.

So basically I'm either going to get the Blitz rims, which I haven't seen in person, for about $350 or get the 5 star rims and PC them which would come to $390. Anybody have opinions either way?

With Discount Tire do you have to get their "wheel package". It is basically just new lug nuts.

That's a good video David. I had seen it before and it has a lot of info in it.
 
les swab does powder coating. and ya that video is good too. ive watched it before. i would think you need a rougher surface for the paint to stick better.

yes most liklely. the lugs are different fit for most custom wheels. plus youll get a special key to get the lug nuts off.

Oh ok. We don't have a Les Swab here.

Will I need new lugs for 5 stars?

ya know i dont think so, see the problem with mine is that the stock lugs wouldnt fit in the hole's on the new wheel, so i think all the oem 4runner wheels would be the same. maybe someone else has done this and will chime in. but ya i think you can keep the same lugs

I'm having a really hard time deciding on color. If I could figure that out I could decide on the rim. I've liked all the black rims I've seen on lighter colored 4runners, but I think the stock color is nice too.

Anybody good at Photoshop?
