Help needed to instal an amp for my subs.

So i got everything connected but my wiring harness dosnt have a blue/white wire for my amp turn on wire it only has a blue wire. i connected it to the blue wire and turned on my car but my amp didn't turn on. i need help with this. what can i do? out::gun5::Cry:

The first thing I would check is get a Volt-Meter and see if you actually have a positive 12v on the amp turn on lead.

This post has the LEAST amount of information I've seen in a while on his forum ...... Ok so a couple of questions you can answer so someone can help you out.


What brand/model head unit are you running?

Can you post a picture of the wires in question?

Are you still using the factory head unit? (just checking)

Check your ground. The first time I installed an amp I had the same problem; turned out that my ground wasn't "grounded". Granted that was eons ago.

Blue wire in your harness is normally for power antenna therefore your amp will not turn on.
You need to connect it to accessory power. If you do not have an amp out wire (blue/white) then you need to hook the wire up to the accessory wire (red).
This is only if you have an aftermarket radio. If not PM me and Ill send you the diagram for all the stock wiring for your vehicle.

Weird I just installed my amp and sub today and connected my remote wire straight to the blue wire on the harness and everything worked fine...

The only way you're not going to have a blue/white wire is if you've cut the factory harness and tie to tap into it. Every aftermarket harness comes standard with a blue/white for our 4runners. Take a picture and show us the harness. I've been installing for years and I've never come across a harness without a remote turn-on wire. Assuming you have an aftermarket head unit. If so, did you install the head unit or have someone else do it? Some places that install head units will remove that wire so people can't screw something up.

Blue wire with white stripe = remote turn on. Wire will energize when ever radio is turned on.

Blue wire = power antenna. With many of today's radios, this wire will energize only when listening to the tuner . Other wise it has no voltage on it.
