Help Request: 2010/11 Trail Edition w/ KDSS for sale?

But if I am spending $34k on a used TE with 30k miles then I rather spend ~$39k OTD for a brand new one.

A couple things...
1. Thanks for the good luck wishes!
2. Your reading comprehension is lacking.
3. This fully loaded (KDSS/NAV/JBL) CPO with under 24k on the odo was less than $33k, which is about $8k off the new one. I'll take 20% off any day.
4. My money and I am happy, guess that is what really matters. I'd rather drop the $8k into braces for my kids, summer travel, etc...

Purchased new '11 Trail with KDSS, Remote Start, First Aid Kit, Preferred Accessory Pkg, Wheel Locks, for $36,693 + 6% tax, $2,201.58, + transfer title $23 = total $38,917.58. It was new with 369 miles on the odometer. I had to drive about 5 hours to go pick it up. Finding a Trail was difficult and the local dealers were a PITA.

So all else equal, a $4,917 reduction in value for 23,000 miles. Really that is not too bad. This is the first new vehicle I purchased. I looked at used, but used 4runners seem to hold their value too much. It does not seem like a huge bargain to buy them used.

The only problem with the truck is that I have spent a boat-load of money modifying it. I could have bought a Ford Raptor by now....:toilet3:

I completely understand on the mod part, I am resisting the urge to do what I did to my truck!

As for price paid, I got mine for $4k less than you on sticker and I got KDSS/Navigation/JBL upgraded sound with a 12/12 &7/100 warranty. I'm in TX and have a slightly higher tax rate at 6.25, so OTD was also a bit higher.

Really, most of all, I needed a vehicle. I needed one in mid-Feb when the tranny went on the truck (see original post). I studied the market, using every resource possible, and tracked EACH of the 25 or so trails I could find in that time as to optional equipment and sale price. I established the current market value using these tools and was able to hop on the chance to grab one when it came up as being listed under-priced given current sale prices. As a matter of fact, the deal was so damn good that the dealer came back to me and tried to raise the price. Toyota corporate took interest in that. :flipoff:

Now, it is your decision whether or not you'd rather save $4k and take the risks associated with buying used and have $4k more to invest until kids need the braces. I like my truck, and I like having the money left in my pocket. Given the conspiring factors that included my the relatively small amount of vehicles made in the desirable configuration, their relatively low distribution in my non-mountainous region (gulf states), scarcity of time and my self imposed financial constraints, I think I came out alright (and that is about all that matters to me)!

Congrats on your first new car, you got a good deal! I've bought several new ones, but don't see the value in it, given the depreciation that comes with the first registration.

Yeah, this thing will get to stretch its legs. Check the pic of the frontier in my original post here - mine get put to good use.

That being said, two thoughts jump to mind:
1. I hate cleaning mud up. Yeah. Good thing TX is so dry.
2. I am going to keep this truck on the nimble/athletic side. I love how it drives and will most likely go with more aggressive shoes at some point, but will be maintaining the stock ride for the foreseeable future.

KDSS with the stock suspension is simply better than the 2" Radflos and long travel bilstein/deaver/shackle lift I had before on the Frontier.
