Help Severely Needed - Towing Hitch Receiver

Ok, so let me start at the begining...I am in the military and I'm currently stationed in Germany. In April I purchased my 2004 4R V8 Limited in Galactic Grey. I love the vehicle and everything about it, BUT I just realized what I believe to be a problem...I don't have my hitch receiver!!! At least, I don't think I do.

In Germany, I can order a 4R and it will arrive with US specs directly from Japan. As I stated, it is perfect but I just realized the hitch doesn't look right. I have the break light /turn signal connector, but no female hitch receiver.

Please look at this photo and tell me what you think. Since I can't go to the dealership and see another 4R, would you also post pics of yours so I can compare.

Thanks!

Yes you are missing the reciever that bolts onto that bracket you show. They should give it to you asap!

Glad to hear you might know what it wrong...can you post a pic of yours so I can print it and show them?

I'm in Germany as well and purchased a SR5 about 2 weeks ago. I contacted K-Town and they have ordered the rest of the hitch for me. It cost around $300.

Awesome. Please let me know who in K-Town you talked to and I'll have my dealer contact them. I'm stationed in the Spang area and I believe we bought them from the same company...Auto Exchange.

The salesman spoke to a manager at K-Town and they took care of it with no problem. They are aware of the problem now so they should take care of you without a hassle. If all fails just call K-Town and ask to speak to a manager.

Rob,

I'll do that, but I need you to verify that it was from Auto Exchange that you purchased your 4R. Also, need you to verify that you have the V8. Finally, I spoke to Ian (my salesman at Spang) and he said that with the last 6 digits of your VIN he could contact Pete (the parts manager at K-Town) and have him look up exactly which parts he would need to order for me.

Please private message me with the numbers or your local phone number so I can call you (I'll be in the Ramstein area on 15 May). Thanks in advance.

I got the new hitch but it is one solid piece. I will have to remove the piece mounted but I can't figure out how to get the rear bumper out of the way to remove it. Any ideas?

Auto Exchange should get it installed for you. I would press Sweeney to have it scheduled to be done at the nearest Toyota in K-Town.

Well the fabulous folks at Deland Toyota of Florida came through for me in a big big way. They shipped me the parts that Toyota failed to install on my 4R and I'm happy to say it is now installed. To those that assisted in any way, you have my thanks!

Here is what it should have looked like:

Glad you finally got it Br1ck!

I'm disappointed to see the lockpin hole is still buried inbetween the two reinforcing plates. That's what I hate about my hitch.

Anyway, you're good to go!

Old thread I know, but I need a little love. Just bought a 2004 in Germany (US model) and it doesn't have the hitch. A little late to ask the dealer to install free of charge I think - what's the fix? Anyone in the Ktown area have a suggestion?
