Help with an explanation for the wife...

In Conclusion...
Over the weekend, she randomly asked me "What did you do to the Toyota, it looks different". I replied what do you mean? She said, "I know you painted the grill emblem black and it looks ghetto, but did you do something to the wheels?"
So, I spilled the beans and told her I changed the wheels so it would get better gas mileage. She replied "It really looks ghetto"...and that was it.

i just recently partially black out the emblems too and my wife said it was ghetto too and i told her it was ghetto fabulous! now trying to swap out the wheels too.. lol..
I'm sorry to hear that your driving ability and/or idea of fun is limited to pushing the skinny pedal.

you are assuming way to many things here... light weight RWD is good to go... the FRS in my opinion is lack luster. Even compared to a Cayman.... perhaps that is why they fell off the list for the pricier but much more able Evora that will be decorating the 3rd bay of my garage shortly... no talk of American Muscle has come from these lips. in your defense I guess I am comparing apples to oranges a bit.... In that company, you are asking a hamburger to taste as good as a steak, haha. For cheap thrills, the FR-S is fantastic. It'll never be a steak, but it is a great hamburger. I can't wait to get back into auto-x when I get mine. My wife doesn't let me beat on her baby, the MINI.
You can understand my assumption that it was a power complaint, though. 90% of the people that don't like the FR-S are the type that define a sports car by power to weight ratio without any regard for adding lightness. The complaints hurled at the Evora are similar. The Evora is one of my favorites. Such a fantastic car. If I had the means, I wouldn't be in the $25k sandbox for my sports car, haha.

My wife and sister in-law say the same thing every time I show them a picture of one of any other T4R members with a lift, black wheels, 33" tires and blacked out trim. I have come to the conclusion that they don't even know what ghetto means. It doesn't get much more "country" to me than a lifted truck on 17" or smaller wheels with oversized tires. Not too many people from the "ghetto" ridin on anything less than 20s. I have just come to grips with the fact that we do not have the same taste in things like that, so I just keep my build thread excitement bottled up inside. I just get shot down anytime I get excited about everyone's ghetto 4runner. The other day my wife told me that Rides 4runner looke like it was going scuba diving....wtf? I just replied, he can't go scuba diving....they don't make a snorkel for the 5th gen yet.
