Hey guys - I'm curious to know why you guys own guns.

It's my understanding that MOST states attach your concealed carry status to your vehicle's registration and/or driver's license. In 2016, I'd be surprised if not all 50 states did this.

nh's permit is not in any way tied to mv registration. i hope that it never is, but with the influx of former mass residents, the state, and statehouse, becomes more liberal every year, so that might change.

vt requires no permit, so no tie-in there, either.

In addition to pretty much what everyone else said, I'm going to add something simple that I don't see touched on very often:

I just think guns are f'ing cool. The way they work, the machinery involved, the attention to detail. They are small works of art. Some are butt ugly, but some are absolutely gorgeous.

I started collecting AK variants when I turned 18. I buy them for their historical value, and they are fun as hell to just shoot rocks out in the desert.

Why I shoot/own guns...

1) It's fun, I've been doing it all my life.
2) Hunting, etc.
3) Self defense.
4) I like making little holes in pop cans, paper, see #1

i don't carry for anybody except me and my family. unless you are a LEO, you are traveling a slippery slope with an idea or attitude that you carry "to protect others", and if you are unfortunate, it can cost you your freedom.

ive lived in bad neighborhoods, i live, and have lived, in good ones, and crime always strikes in each and every one of them, unfortunately. It used to save my own arse from anyone looking to take what i work hard to get...but in the past 15 years its just as much to protect my growing family of four and the things that we feel is dear to our lives. Life, Liberty, & the Pursuit...ya dig.

Ill be dayum if im going to hear somebody trying to break into my cars, steal my motorcycles, or come into my home and NOT have something to say and show and do about it...and i have, more than a few times.

9mm and 12 guage...and im pretty good with both.

the only 9-1-1 call i plan to make is "yes, ive just shot an intruder...uuhh, and the middle-aged black man who your officers will see outside IS the homeowner...so..."

Why have a firearm?

I was driving at 45 mph when a round ripped through the window of my 4Runner. Needless to say, I'm thankful the bad-guy missed.

Reasons:
1. Defense of one's life and others.
2. Everything else guns are good for, including working out, keeping bellies fed and social functions.

I live in the country, and usually carry a pistol for snakes when I'm in the woods. Plus we're overrun with pigs down here in Texas, so sometimes I carry a rifle in the truck. I just appreciate the mechanicals of firearms too.

I carry them for a living but got my first at 10 years old. Hunter, enthusiast and personal protection. I enjoy my freedoms and my god given rights. My wife and three boys feel the same way.
