HID Install for 2006 4Ruunner

Hi Guys,

dgsmith15 - 4 runner ron's installation is several years old. Since then, we have modified the HID Kit - . The reason we now use (and have been for a while) 2 relay harnesses as opposed to one is for safety. If a single fuse/relay is used to trigger both headlights and one of them fails both headlights will go out on you. If you use 2 independent relay harnesses only one side will be affected.

propman07 - You would need to get an H11 HID kit for the low beams and a 9006 HID kit for the fog lights. For the most functional output, I would suggest going with our 4300k HID kits. The 4300k HID Kit - will offer you the brightest and whitest possible output.

Cardsfan, I know this is years late, but you have installed the HID kits in 2004 4runner. Did you notice any glare? Could you adjust your lights so there wasn't all the glare some people say they have? I'm just trying to get a straight answer from someone that has done this. I don't feel like having to install projecotr assembly's if I don't have to. Just more money I could spend on another mod. Please tell me you got good results, and that I don't need to buy new headlight assembly's.

Hey-

I just received a H11 6500k Xtreme Xenon HID Conversion Kit for my 2009 4Runner. It did not come with the installation wiring diagram. There are two ringed terminals coming off of the included harness, one black, and one red. I'm assuming that they go to the - and + on the vehicle. Can anyone shoot me a PDF file of their wiring instructions if available?

Thanks for the quick reply. I kind of figured that was the way they were intended to be connected. Let me know if you put the 4300k bulbs on sale as I would be interested in picking up a pair in case the 6500k don't work out.

I connected the red one to the positive terminal on the batter. The black one I grounded it to an existing bolt on the fender.

I connected the red leads to the main connection on the fuse box under the hood (the bolt) but I'm going to switch it to a relay that is turned on by the parking light circuit. That way when I flash someone with the lights off, the lows won't flash - only the highs.

Interesting way to do it. But the only issue, you have no parking light only setup. There are cases where I need the parking lights only. Double parked in cul-de-sacs or when the highway is shut down at night due to road conditions.

In the various threads about the independent and always-on fog (so the stays on when you flash or highbeam) mod, I've always wonder can someone study the schematics and come up with a way to allow the high beam to come on without the low beam. The reason is I don't want the low beams to come on when I flash or if the alarm should sound.

The way I'm going to run it is using the relays that came with the Xenon Depot sytem to actually turn on the low beams, but there will be no power to those relays unless the parking lights are on. In other words the low beams will work as usual but can't be activated unless the parking lights are on as well. This should keep them off if I flash the lights. You will still be able to have parking lights on without headlights.
I agree with you Uneek, I wouldn't want to not be able to use only parking lights for certain situations. Not sure if that would work for your alarm as if the alarm flashes the parking lights, the lows will come on.

I guess we could add a third relay in series that is active when ignition is on. So for lows to work in that case: ignition on, at least parking lights on, headlights on. How many relays can we add to one circuit?!?!?! ;]

Thanks. I was able to get the wiring schematic from XenonDepot, and it shows exactly that. I connected the red wire(s) to the + on the battery, and the black wire(s) to the fender bolt (-).

I ended up bolting the ballast to the inside of the fender wall on the driver's side and passenger's side. It was pretty easy to do, and I didn't want to rely on just the double back tape. I used that as well. Even though there are photos of the install, I will snap a few pics of the final install on my 4Runner in case anyone is interested.

I have the OEM alarm that comes with the Limited, haven't added an aftermarket alarm. I don't remember if the parking flash.

I understand now what you're trying to accomplish, the parking lights have to be on as a prerequisite before the low beams/HIDs will turn on. Awesome idea and should get around the highbeam flashing issue.
