HID kit help (DDM)

Since I put the 35w 5,000k HID's from DDM my friends loved my set and the fact that they are very very inexpensive, so I got 15 of my friends to go out and get kits from DDM as well. I choose 5,000k because I wanted pure white, I didn't want the 6,000k because it has a hint of blue and I'm glad I got the 5,000k. :)

lol yeah I just reread my post and edited it didn't make sense, but yeah They were like that's is the cheapest they've ever seen an HID kit go for, most of them are local so they went to huntington beach to pick them up, the lazy ones got theirs shipped haha.

Ya I used to run the ebay HIDs in my previous cars, but its really a crap shot and what you get.

DDM looks like they will be around if warrenty issues do come up. They seem to be liked among other forums aswell .
 
I got mine installed today. It was pretty easy, just a little time consuming if you want to make sure all the wires are out of the way.

I didn't have any problems with the wire length. I ran mine in front of the radiator.

My positive battery terminal is getting pretty full. I have about four wires on it now.

I made marks on my garage last night showing where my lights were aimed before. I'll fire up the HIDs tonight and see if anything changed.
 
sweet clemson.. take some pics of where you aimed them i'm still curious as if mine are too high or too low. thanks!

and yeah that cant be good for our battery... I gotta think of some kind of alternative to all these wires.

Read the thread, talked it over with DuHockey, and ordered my set last night along with a set for the LC. Got shipping notification today and I should have them on my front doorstep by Friday! Trouble is, I'm stuck in NY! The kit will get home before I do! Thanks for all the great info on here guys...love this forum!:hatsoff:
 
I yanked all my DDM stuff out yesterday and went to Silver Star Ultra's which IMO work great. I'm much happier now. Hope you guys have better luck than I did. I'll be passing my one good ballast to Scotty then warrantying the two bad one's we got between us, unless they'll take the whole kit back which I doubt since I don't have all the packing stuff they came with. If that becomes the case, I'll probably have my kit for sale at half price or so soon when this is all said and done.
 
Im pretty sure Im going to pick me up some 35W 5000K HIDs in the next couple of days, but I was wondering what should I do with my 2 Hella 500s I have on my bumper. Should I get two kits and retrofit the HIDs into the hellas or would that be a waste. I kinda want them to match

really, you had bad ballasts? what were the symptoms? you have the 99-02 headlights right? what did you not like about them?

I was gonna get two sets, one for my headlights and then one for my Hellas, what did you have to do to get the DDM HID kit to work with the Hellas? was it plugnplay???

the Hellas I have are H3 or H4 (forget which one) shouldnt they just work without any modification?
 
The 700s are H3 and I think the 500s are too.

You just have to drill a little hole in the back and then put the HID light in and secure it. Then cut off the male ends of two of the wires and connect one to the Hella relay and one to a ground.

I didn't think it was too bad, especially if you already have everything wired up.

So it goes like this :
mount fuse box.
Run ground from fuse box ground to frame/chasis ground point.
Run fused power wire from battery to positive input on fuse box.
Connect stuff (fog lights, HID power, inverter) to fuse box. (both power and ground)
Drink cold beer.
Repeat cold beer step as needed.

The Blue Sea website is pretty helpfull for install help.
 
I skimmed through this thread, but didn't see any pics of the beam pattern created by a hi/lo DDM kit mounted in a '96-'98 headlight housing. Or maybe I just missed them.

Anyway, does anyone have pics of their set-up like that that they could share? I'm just curious if they create a decent light pattern, without causing glare to others on the road.

I've used Extreme White PIAA's for 10+ years with no complaints. But one just burned out, and the entire DDM kit is cheaper than a replacement PIAA H4 bulb.

Sucks to hear this, I just installed mine this weekend. How long did they last? Exactly what's your problem ? What was happening?

The light pattern should be good. It might be a little dimmer because of the frosted housing.

You could upgrade to the '99+ headlights if you wanted a better look.

There might be some glare since we don't have projectors, but you can always reaim your headlights.

I would post pictures of mine, but my housing are aftermarket and do not have the same beam pattern as the factory housings.

wow i think i may br able to pull this off! im going to have to cause is still want more lights. Is this pretty much what people do when they have lights mounted on their racks and all over?

on page 3 there is a pic with the 97 light housing. it seems like its pretty good.
