I'm in the same boat as you guys, just a quick question on how to mount the ballast and relay. Did you have to drill holes for the bolts? checked mine and there was no holes available. thanks

I used velcro, one ballast was mounted flat/horizontal and the other vertical, in 2011, haven't budged. In fact, in prep for some new lights and ballasts I had to remove the old ones recently and they were actually difficult to get loose.

About the relay; I had just tucked mine behind the battery and this was a mistake. Fumes (I guess) off the battery, which had begun to seep recently, corroded and ruined the relay. The next one will be screwed to some vertical surface like the inner fender wall.

Sheet metal screws and yes, I drilled small holes to start the sheet metal screws.
I never use Velcro under the hood, but that's just me..... kinda ghetto IMHO!

I tucked my ballasts right behind the flexible plastic panel. It sits on top of a flat area and won't move anywhere.

quick question. i have a 6k hid kit installed in my 2012 TE and have had them for about 3 years now. i came home and parked in my driveway last night and realized that my passenger side light has a sort of green tint to it. can anyone explain? is it time for a new set?

I actually got mine on amazon for $50 and it works just fine. Forgot the brand but it starts with a K. If it blows, I'll simply replace it.

My last ones I bought that I still have in my q45 were from eBay for about the same, xentec, which have also been good. Thing is I don't drive that car as much as I would like. Only a few hundred miles in the last 2 years. Just passed smog with flying colors.

Yea as long as they work fine and are the color you want, you're good to go. Did rowher for the 2nd time today. Much easier this time around haha.

Kenson! Yea that's what I went with. 4300k and so far so good. I've had them since May and still no issues.

Has anyone ever compared those cheap Kensun with either the TRS/XD ones? I tried the Kensun a few months ago and was not too thrilled. The lights were whiter for sure than stock(I had the 5000k) but I did not think they were that much brighter and was a bit disappointed so I returned them. My main issue was distance. I don't know if I should have adjusted the angle of the lamps. I was not sure what I should expect from TRS/XD. Is it just better hardware ie last longer or is there real perceivable difference in terms of light output and spread? Also warm up time, and I remember hearing a faint buzz with the Kensun ballasts even after they warmed up from outside - not sure if that is normal.

I have not had the first issue with the products from TRS or the install.
Everything it great...no color change nor flicker of any kind!
BTW, mine is a daily driver, I work shift work so mine may be on at night more than the average driver....

I have no buzz with mine and do get better light output with the 4300k vs stock halogen obvioisly. Maybe yours were either defective or weren't sitting properly in the headlights.

Auto-on

For those that are running HIDs now... what is your experience with the "auto-on" issue? I'm strongly considering a HID kit, but want to understand what the condition is with auto-on before I buy for my '15 TRD Pro.

I did some searching, but I cannot find any recent posts about this topic.

Anyone with experience on this?
