I believe you misunderstood what I was saying.
I know PNP HID bulbs are supposed to glare in halogen housings.
And FWIW, I could do a true HID retrofit and still get glare as seen in hidplanet beam shot thread.

the DRLs in my 2015 are via my high beams. putting HIDs in my low beams has no effects on my DRLs and vice-versa. I used upgraded halogens for my high beams because they are not projectors.
Ah of course :doh:. I just assumed the DRL used the low-beams but you're definitely right.

Most of your question has been answered, but wanted to include the part of your question about how to disable the DRL if you still wanted to do so....

That's what I get when I search man. I did go through the threads you linked and found a thread you didn't link that have me an idea but barely any info. But hey if you want to be a dick that's cool. There's always a keyboard warrior on every forum

Looks like you are using tapatalk which the search is TERRIBLE. I'm posting below to help, but please don't take it harshly, just the only real way to search. To person slamming the guy, man lighten up...
So, what is the best way to search the forum to find what you need fast?
Step 1. Go to google
Step 2. Type "5th Gen 4Runner" and then your question.
That's all! Make sure you put the 5th Gen 4Runner first to narrow the question down to this model. You will be brought to this forum with all the relevant threads shown.

I didn't know you were trying to use Tapatalk to search, and I see your issue there. I use Tapatalk, too, and I agree that there is plenty of room for improvement. I can't tell you why there are a ton of results (from a search within the 5th Gen forum) when you search "headlights" or "HID headlights" but nothing for "HID". It's probably searching the thread title and not the content. For that misunderstanding, I apologize.
I'm not a keyboard warrior, nor am I being a dick. I posted not one but two different links that both contain specific instructions on how to do the HID install. They have detailed instructions as well as a ton of pictures, so I have no idea why you're saying they contain "barely any info". I just navigated to the threads (MTN4RNR) from within Tapatalk and the instructions and pictures are super clear.

I must have missed those steps and went back and looked and found what you first referred me to. So I apologize for not doing the searching of the links you provided.
