High Beam Recommendations

Those are discontinued and from the product page claims 4000 lumens. The replacement xtreme pro LEDs are only at 1750 lumens. 1750 is no brighter than normal 9005s. 9011 bulbs can put out 2300 lumens.

I would love to find a LED bulb that can put out as much light as HID's but so far there is nothing close.

Only OEMs have LEDs that can match HID output. It's not that they can't make LED bulbs as bright as HIDs, it's because LED bulbs dissipate a lot of heat in a small area. Making a LED bulbs as bright as HID creates a lot of heat and all that heat will start to degrade the performance (brightness, longevity, etc) of the LED. Dissipating all that heat in a plug and play solution is difficult do to size restrictions. That's why you see LEDs with heatsink fans and/or fins. Progress is being made so in a few years it is definitely possible. If you look at OEM solutions, the bulbs are not serviceable because the entire headlight assembly is also a heatsink.

Do they flicker? That's the issue I had with the TRS LEDs I tried. They did shine at supposed half power, but there was an extremely high frequency pulse that about gave me a headache when I looked at them lol. I didn't want anybody keeling over at the wheel driving towards me so that's when I did the DRL delete mod.

They do have that high frequency flicker. I noticed it at first but it's something i got used to. It was only present when I was really looking for it.

I bought the 50W DDM Saber LED kit from Aiden James Customs. Those lights are fu!(ing bright! The light they put off is incredible! The reflections off of road signs is almost too much with the HB's on. I highly recommend them.

XD Kit LED for DRLs

I've read about people turning the DRLs off by changing pins. My 4runner has the ability to turn off the DRL's from the light switch. Just wonder if this is a recent change or only on 5th Gens. I bought a 2018.

As far as replacing my high beams with LED's. I found this kit at XD.

9005 Xtreme LED CMB Fog Light Bulbs | 9005 LED DRL Light Bulbs

There is a drop down box for 29.99 you can upgrade to DRL?? I'm assuming it allows me to run my DRL's without flicker and not at full power. Any ideas?

This is what I want to know. Does the XB 9005 LED bulbs with the DRL option run the LEDs at low power or full brightness on DRL mode?

Read the last sentence. That may not be a good option.

I spent the $$ on Xenon Depot HID 4300K low beams, which I'm very happy with, so I wanted to keep costs low on the high beam upgrade. I'd had good experiences converting to 9011 H1R bulbs on a previous car, and went that route again this time. The high beams are pretty impressive, and the Wagner bulbs (rebranded Phillips made in Germany) off Rock Auto were like $40 shipped for both.

The high beams have a very long throw, and light up reflectors WAY down the road. Some of the spendier option may have better fill in the mid range, but I do a lot of rural highway driving at night and these are very nice in those conditions. They are probably the best bang for the buck lighting upgrade you could get, and worth trying out if you're on the fence as the cost to try is so low.

Any body has a video of DDM DRL can you post it please.

the pulse isnt bad, but they really are too bright when sitting in bumper to bumper traffic. people ahead of you will be pissed. that said, i do think they add an element of safety on the highway--people will know you are there. That said, i have not been flashed by oncoming traffic.

The reason why you're not finding anything definitive is because there isn't a drop in solution that keeps all the stock functionality, because the HBs are also the DRLs.

The 9005 incandescent (halogen) swap is the only mod that keeps the functionality, but it doesn't give you the 5000k match of LEDs or HIDs.

There are no LED bulbs currently that will run at a lower brightness as DRLs and also function as HBs when needed- the "anti-flicker" (Canbus) modules run the DRLs as HBs. Meaning that without the module, your LED DRLs will flicker (in high beams brightness) and with it they will not flicker but they will be high beam brightness.

If you don't care about the DRLs you can do Antman 's "Disable DRLs / Keep Auto headlights" mod to the factory harness and just use the HBs as HBs.

Check the thread in my sig for more.

XenonDepot has a DRL driver now for HB LED's.

check out our DRL LED Driver which allows the LED bulbs to dim in daytime running light mode while offering high beam in full brightness.
gdvan01 my understanding from the posts in the "pre-order" thread is that the LED DRLs are still pulsatile even with this module. The flickering is probably improved and dimmer compared to without the module but unfortunately doesn't sound like it's eliminated.

We had a few isolated cases which we are working to resolve but for the majority, they have been working great!

Also did XenonDepot LEDs and love them. Bought the add on so I could use driving lights. Easy install and major improvement on stock for low cost. Can’t go wrong.

Xenon Depot has the high beams and you can order the DRL driver so the daytime running lights run at about 15% rather than full power of high beams.
