i'm in the middle of doing my heads too.. after taking them off and seeing how far gone my engine was i decided to go for a full engine rebuild (according to some research i determined my engine had over 300k on it and never been rebuilt!) i would recommend getting your heads redone with larger valves. it's only $80 (extra) at most machine shops, and 70 for the larger valves from engnbldr on ebay. the main reason the head gasket going on the 3vze is the undersized valves and restrictive heads cause the number 6 cly to overheat (#6 because the collector for all 6 cyl's is right there) from the research that i've done the larger valves and headers are supposed to be the key to avoiding head gasket issues in the future. (not to mention better fuel economy on the highway and a very decent increase on hp from about 3500 to redline.) i think all in all i've got about 1100 into the entire project between the polish/port, larger valves, new bearings, pistons, rings, oil pump, water pump, gaskets ect ect. the head work alone was 750 total.
... my point being that it might be advantageous to jus kick down the extra 4-5 hundred and do the 3.4 swap (which is deff less work trust me). if you have any specific questions about the head job i'll be happy to get you any info i can.
