Hole in Air Injection Manifold (was: Hole in Engine Part)

1991 T4R 22-RE

Hello all. My car was having some spiking temperature issues so I replaced the t-stat, still no fix. Wasn't getting heat out of the heater and engine shows getting hot within a couple of miles. Was looking around and just happened to notice this beauty of a problem which I don't think was there before. I'm pretty new and am not sure what this pipe is coming out of the engine. It seems that part of the weld has burst off and I imagine something is coming out of that small hole although it doesn't appear to be a fluid.

Can anyone tell me what this is and how hard it is going to be to fix. Also, would this be causing an overheat?

Well, it looks like it is the No. 2 air injection manifold. So my question is then how bad is this that there appears to be a hole in it? Should I not even be starting my truck?

UPDATED: It looks like many people bypass it although it looks like some others are sealing cracks with JB Weld. Any reason I shouldn't do this? Switching the part apparently isn't too difficult but I would need to buy all new parts and labor and that would be at least $200 versus an $8 bottle of weld.

JB Weld site says: "Not recommended for use on manifolds, exhaust systems, and other engine components which normally operate at temperatures above 500° F." Does that apply to this No. 2 air injection manifold?

Looks like it was already JB fixed before and it has blown through.
I say, do it again.

Yeah, looking at it closer it kind of looks like that. I am going to jb weld it for now and maybe look at trying to find the part used.
