Holy page of stickies!

What is everyone's thoughts on all the stickies that we have? Granted, they are very informative threads and are all sticky worthy but do you guys think they clutter the main page too much?

I can create a single sticky labeled "Sticky Thread" or something to that affect and link all the stickies to it. This way there is one thread that has everything in it and it will clear up the main page. Any thoughts?

In my opinion, the stickies are for those who wish to read and learn for themselves. Most people who ask the repetitive questions want to be spoon fed and don't care to look for their answers.

People already dont read the threads that are stickied that have titles that pertain to what they are looking for, you think making a thread called "stickies thread" will draw them in to find the info they failed to search for.

I don't think there should be just one mega sticky but I do think some of them can be merged. Like torque specs, 99 mid-gen upgrades, about rear sag and keyless entry programming can be throw in or linked in the 3rd gen FAQ sticky somehow. But, like stated above. Newbs will be newbs and not search for jack squat. One sticky, or a million stickies.. it wont make a difference.

I don't think that at all. I do think that the stickies are very useful for those of us who appreciate the information and for those who care to take 5 minutes to read before posting. But in my opinion the end result would be the same regardless if the threads were combined into one or as they are now. The only thing it will accomplish is it will clean up the front page a little. But I'll only do it if the majority wants it, if not I'll leave it alone.

I vote for one sticky that reads Please Read Before Posting on a locked page.....don't the classifieds say that IDK? I know other forums have something like this.

Anyway, all the stickies like you suggest would be on that page. It would really clean up the 3rd gen section.

I feel that a large limitation is that vBulletin sucks. a lot.
Sure the little green arrows sort of tell you, but they mostly look like every other thread.
Can staff not make stickied threads bold or larger font?

I also agree that a fair amount of people suck at doing their own research. a lot.
But a "EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT 3RD GENS BUT WERE AFRAID TO ASK"
grouped sticky might actually stand out more than 15 stickies that all look the same.

I voted No simply because many new members don't know what a "sticky" is. So if you had a thread called "Stickies" that was stickied, it would prob get less traffic. BUT there are too many stickies at the top, you could prob merge a couple. Even making the text a different color might help.

The amount of stickies we have to scroll down through is ref*ckingdiculous. Can't the mods make it so it's mandatory that a newly registered user read the tutorial & doc reference sticky and lift faqs sticky before being allowed to submit their first post?

Maybe even make the newly registered members have no posting privileges for a probation period of 1 week so they have nothing better to do than root around the 3rd gen chapter and learn a thing or two?

Don't take it out on us with a 1/3 page of stickies lol.

We need a "stickies thread" that contain all the sticky threads so that all the noobs can ask what the sticky thread is or get told that the information that they are seeking is in the sticky thread. So they go to the sticky thread and find more links to more sticky threads hence containing more threads which might possibly end up putting them back on a thread that they already read (looked at pictures) and see their post asking about how to do who knows what and getting referred to the sticky thread but they didn't find their answer so they go back to the sticky thread of Stickies threads.

I say we just name the thread:

"The Super Awesome Fantastilimazing Complendium of Threads that will Answer All Your Questions"

They do that on other forums and it is pretty effective at getting the user reading. Some require that you post in the new members section for like your first 10 posts before you can post anywhere else.

But let's not make this complicated or we might anger the T4R gods and have server malfunctions

Unless you make the first 10 pages all stickies and then they will be like WTF mate!!! But agreed they will do it regardless. Ever looked back like to page 10,000 or farther. Mostly all useless "my truck is dead, what do I do" threads. Just saying. Lol
