Homelink Garage Door Opener

Hello,

I followed the menu and tried couple hours yestersday to setup the homelink garage opener but no luck on that. Any idea ot tip?

Opener w/ rolling code:
Hit the "learn" button, then press/hold both remote and homelink (about 5" away from each other). Repeat couple of times and homelink should pick it up.

Opener w/o rolling code:
Press/hold both remote and homelink together within 5" for about 5 seconds and that should do the trick.

If you're trying to homelink with a gate, you may need access to the actual motor to find the "learn" button.

Follow the directions for the non-rolling code setup first, then do the rolling code part. Should work then! Good luck.

I don't remember the exact steps, but I know I had to use the part of the instructions which required pushing the learn button on the garage door motor itself. It was stubborn, but did work after a few tries.

I just programmed mine couple days ago. I pushed the garage door opener main motor's learn button and pushed home link button 3 times and it worked.

couldn't for the life of me get the programming to work using the remote. so i sat under the garage motor, pushed the red learn button, then pushed and held my homelink button, and it programmed within 3 seconds!!!

Super easy now i have time for pie!!

See guys, they left out a step in the manual: The omitted step reads: "You must re-read and go through the above steps at least three times while consuming one (1) beer for each try. You will then discover the one missed word which caused you to screw it up the first two (2) times."

At least your remote works! My GDO refuses to work with the homelink if i'm 60deg-90deg-120deg from it. If i'm turned any further, it's fine! If I open the garage light cover, it's fine... grr.

But yes, do the rolling code then the standard code instructions - works great

Garage Door Opener

If you follow the directions in the manual exactly you are looking at about 30 seconds to complete the job. I have 2 garage doors openers and have it set up so each vehicle can open its own door and also the other door for the other vehicle. Just do not make it look complicated.

Call the phone number listed in the manual. They will walk you through it, Step by Step.

I second that! This is what exactly the procedure I took.

Just finished programing mine, I was about to give up after 2 hours and a wife making fun of me when I discovered how to make it work. I've tried for many hours with my previous car with no luck, so I thought I would share the info.

I have to say I have two Genie Lift door openers with rolling codes, and from what I've read they are the worst to get the HL work.

There is a small sliding button on the side of the wireless remote control. It changes the frequency from 375hz to 330hz or something, I can't remember the exact number. As soon as I've changed it, it worked perfectly following the instruction in the owner's manual. Problem is that the Home Link can't accept the signal when the switch is on the factory setting, making the learning impossible.

Damn it felt good when I got it to work.

As did mine, they actually did quite a few things at delivery.

1. They programmed my homelink.
2. They programmed "HOME" in my NAV.
3. They paired my iPhone to my NAV and transferred my contacts.
4. They went over the smart key system to ensure I understood exactly how it all worked.


I was pretty impressed with my sales guy. I'm an I.T. Engineer, so I'm pretty techie, but it was pretty fun learning all the cool tech features on the truck.

Twisting the post a bit, but why isn't the homelink not lit, everything else has lights. Even if they would have lit the middle one, I am almost positive that the middle one in my wife's Venza is lit makes it a bit easier to find at night.

i hope i get a response being that this is a pretty old thread, but i couldn't get my home link to work,

my question (prob a stupid one) is: Did you press the learn button and then run to the car to press the home link button or did u have someone help u so u could do them simultaneous?

Home Link

It does not matter, you can do it either way. I did both of mine by myself. Just have a step ladder or such set up under the door opener motor and have the panel open to have access to the learn button. It you have rolling code door opener the procedure (as most do) takes about 30 seconds to link up. If you do not have rolling code, it takes about 15 seconds. Just be sure to follow the instructions exactly as spelled out in the owner's manual. It is a very simple process....do not try to make it complicated. If you have more than one vehicle you can program so you can open either garage door (up to 3 different doors from each vehicle.

I have to retry this later. In programming my Homelink (rolling code procedure) my T4R homelink began to work and everything else stopped (other vehicle remotes and outside keypad) Dunno.
I have Homelink in my T4R and my Camry SE so need those two plus the keypad to work. Nice if the two old remotes worked too for the kids cars.

Happened to me years ago. When you are programming a "new" car or remote, take all the other cars and remotes out of range. IF you can remove the door pad, do so and take it out of range too. IF not, you may have to redo the door pad seperatley again.
