Not Runner related but something I love doing, just wish my day job paid more and I could make tables lol



this aluminum one was crazy. First I polished everything then welded it together. A grinder has never touched it.







Now the wife renovated our TV room so there is another table in the future

4X4mike - impressive! You obviously have more time, money, and talent than I.

HA! Those projects all took place in the past 4 years or so, not over night. Time, money and talent are one of those 'pick any two kind of things'.

Work and small kids seem to gobble up most of my time so these get done when I've got a little. A lot of my welding projects seem to be completed with scrap steel I have at the house which makes it quick and cheap. Talent, meh. They are all pretty simple. Sometimes the hardest part is getting something from my mind to the table.

Almost finished with the rear bumper. I understand it's not for everyone.

I like how that looks. I'm not a fan of how the other bumpers I've seen have the spare offset to the passenger side. I'd much rather have it all the way to the driver side(with the hinge on that side) and have the jerry cans or whatever on the passenger side not blocking the window.

LCA skids were made out of a 1.25" wide angle piece 3/16" thick. If I had to do it again i would go 1" wide. I chose a smaller section but my local pipe supply place had 10' for 7 bucks and change. Total: 7ish

RCAM skids were made from a 3" wide by 3' (i think) piece of 3/16" steel. Got it at Lowes in the steel section for 15ish bucks (one piece will get you two skids). Hardware (7/16" bolts, nuts, and washers) was another 5 give or take. Total: 20ish for two skids

Other stuff I bought for the project, you may or may not need these. Dewalt 2x bi metal blade (14/18 i think), 5 bucks. Similar strength jigsaw blades, 5 bucks.

Grand total: 40 bucks (technically 60 because I made two sets of RCAM).

The biggest thing that isn't factored in is time. It took me a while to get the skids cut where they would fit properly (my inside piece looks real funny due to how the link mount is shaped). And then when welding them together takes a while. Even welding them in a jig to keep them at 90 degrees doesn't make them perfect. I had to tack it all together, test fit, maybe whack a side off and redo it, maybe grind it down at the end. Obviously you could gain some time if you use a plasma or something like that, but all I had was a sawzall, jigsaw, drillpress, and welding junk so it took a bit longer.

Awesome man that helps me out. Hopefully I will have this done by the end of the month, just have a few other projects I'm finishing aswell. Thank you for the respons. I will post how they look when I'm done.

i dont know who did it...i'm the 4th owner so here's the AMAZING ISR i had. i fixed it with exhaust tubing for now. as best as i can tell...this is a plastic cup. cut with a drill bit. the deckplate was similar (i.e. cut a hole in the airbox with a drill bit)

Nothing major here. I took the rear pull down strap and turned it into a flashlight mount on the drivers side with snaps. I then made a longer leather pull down strap. Easy on the hands and easier to pull down the rear gate.

Next I'm going to make more leather straps for a hatchet and shovel mounts. I love working with leather.

I built a jeep, is that a bad word around here? I haven't had the 4runner long enough to really tear into it but I will be building bumpers and a rack soon

I built a double trianulated 4-link front and streached the rear with Cherokee leaf springs. Its completely scratch built in my garage with an angle grinder, plasma, and welder. Borrowed a bender from a buddy for the shock hoops.
