Homemade Mosquito trap

This might be something to consider if your camping

Modern technology has brought us many benefits, including mosquito traps that cost hundreds of dollars, but sometimes we overlook simple solutions to difficult challenges such as mosquito control. When it comes to controlling pests, research tends to focus on chemicals or concepts that can be patented. Unless someone can make a profit from an idea, the public may never become aware of it.

Items needed:

200 ml water
50 grams of brown sugar
1 gram of yeast
2-liter plastic bottle

Or US conversion:
1 cup of water
about 1/3 teaspoon yeast
1/4 cup of brown sugar

HOW:
1. Cut the plastic bottle in half.
2. Mix brown sugar with hot water. Let cool. When cold, pour in the bottom half of the bottle.
3. Add the yeast. No need to mix. It creates carbon dioxide, which attracts mosquitoes.
4. Place the funnel part, upside down, into the other half of the bottle, taping them together if desired.
5. Wrap the bottle with something black, leaving the top uncovered, and place it outside in an area away from your normal gathering area. (Mosquitoes are also drawn to the color black.)

Change the solution every 2 weeks for continuous control.

I saw this today as well, I've made similar wasp traps that work amazing! Just sugar water needed to attract wasps.

I have made 2 of these. One caught a bunch of flys. The cather has caught nothing in 3 weeks. It may work for them, but not on my houston skeeters

They have shown up in swarms in the last few days around here, I'm going to try this out and see if I can make a dent. My batbox is empty again this year, boo!

I always wonder if these types of traps don't attract more skeeters than you would have without one. Maybe place it on the other side of the property when you're outside

Several years ago I picked up something like this from the store and set it up in my yard, and that's exactly what I noticed. I mean it sure trapped a ton of them, but at the same time there was also even more of them flying around (as compared to before getting the trap). I think the key here is to set one up in the neighbors yard

A couple years ago, I threw a catnip stalk that someone gave me into the planter box near my front door. It took off, and I seriously haven't seen a mozzie in my house since.
