Hood (w/scoop) solar panel measurements

Maybe I missed this amongst all the pages in the thread, but what's the wattage output (given ideal conditions of course) of the three panel set?

It’s getting addressed moving forward. If you already have yours they will work with you direct on a solution. I stand by my opinion that they are easy to work with, they redesigned this in less then six hours (size of panel was the original issue, new panels will be tiny bit smaller. Same wattage).

my blob was probably thicker then the 2 junction boxes on top of the side panels. so yea i had a big ass blob.

That sucks. Hope you get it taken care of. I have been running my Jackery as pass through for two days on the beach to power my fridge. Beer still cold as I type this from my rtt.

they replied saying they are working on the new panel, and will have it in 10 days or so. if this is the case, i have to say i am very impressed with their r&d department and efficiency. I just don't know what they were thinking to release the first panel the way they did..

Yeah they're sending me a new one with the junction box on top. They're also sending some new vinyl (was sized incorrectly).

Update on my end, fried my Jackery power station by plugging it directly into the panels (prolly cuz I have them wired in series). Will try to figure out a way to charge it by plugging into the power controller even though it’s redundant.

This is my fault. They recommend parallel. I did series b/c don’t have to use bigger gauge wire and series has better chance of “delivering usable power in cloudy conditions” as explained to me by someone smarter. I might switch it, not sure yet….

Parallel increases amperage, series increases voltage; you had no way of actually accepting the higher voltage without a solar controller.
You need to run your panels into a solar controller then into your Jackery or whatever is storing power.

0.7 mm VHB, no vinyl, straight on the paint. The tape is run along the entire outside edge of the panels to hold them completely flat against the hood. I also added two strips in the middle to hold it away from the paint a bit and prevent rubbing in the center (sorry no install pics). It is entirely more than I need to hold them in place (VHB is insanely strong stuff) but it's best to run it entirely around so there's no gaps. I've worked quite a bit with VHB so I'm not afraid of the removal process if I do ever need to pull them off, already did it once with these as I wasn't entirely happy with my first shot at placement. VHB removal is not what I would describe as a good time but as long as you're patient and let the adhesive remover do it's thing it's pretty straightforward. If I was planning on selling ever I might have wrapped it first but idc, this thing was pretty pinstriped already, not that it really shows in the pic.

haha i should have thought of that and saved money on the vinyl parts.
i for things like this they recommend long vertical strips, in case water gets in, it can still come out? debating sealing all the way around, i think at some point, some corner will lift a bit.

Lensun sent me a replacement center panel. Will try to get this installed soon. The new one is maybe a 1.5" longer then the previous one, but the power cable exits from the top via a junction box like the other panels. this should work much better. Too much expected rainfall this weekend to get this done though.

Mine went out yesterday. Was going to update after I get it and install but I suspect it will work MUCH better. My original with wires underneath started lifting off. But again, to their credit… their response time via IG was less then 12hrs and new one went out at no cost in less then 24hrs. I am beyond impressed with their service. Product is also holding up well so far.

Did you not have it going through their MPPT controller or you did? I am going to run my controller in the back like yours and then the extra DC(?) outs i was going to have go to my power bank. I don't want to risk frying my power bank though either.
Just waiting on the vinyl to show up and I will get to start installing. Probably labor day weekend i'll get mine all on. Only thing I am not a fan of for the non scooped version is it has metal rings on all 4 corners. prefer the cleaner look of yours.
