How do I remove rear spoiler?

I did a quick search and couldnt find a quick answer.

How do I go about removing the rear spoiler? Is it a simple task?

My issue... I have a 1.5 inch long by .25 inch wide paint flake exactly where the spoiler and tail gate meet. I can see grey and white (primer and sub primer?) I tried taking a photo to show you guys but its in a really bad spot for a photo...

Went to the dealer and they said they can do one of two things.
A: Send it to a body shop and repaint the spot and reblend into the spoiler, tail gate, and divers side side pannel to blend the paint so you cant see the paint job. with the comment "its never ideal to remove factory paint"
B: Give me a bottle of touch up paint and have me do it my self....

Didnt like either answer, but I took the free bottle of paint.

Due to the location, I think for the best results having the spoiler out of my way would help.

Any help would be great...
Thanks

P.S. Safelight glass repair is comming out tomarrow to fix a chip in the windsheild... FML!!!

Thanks buddy!

Search is 100% broken... Typed that thead title into search and it still didnt come up...

I've posted this multiple times, guess one more won't hurt.

The Forum Search is useless !!! I've asked Jesse for this workaround to be a stickie, but was turned down. Altho the HID GB sure got up there fast!! ?? Hmmmm?

Anyhoo, use this structure in GOOGLE:

site:5th gen T4Rs - Toyota 4Runner Forum xxx xxx

.... and replace xxx xxx with Search criteria, like this:

site:5th gen T4Rs - Toyota 4Runner Forum remove spoiler

..... works well.

philsey, unfortunately I don't think anyone reads the stickies either. Case in point: all of those mods are stickie'd yet questions still arise on how to do them. So, stickies are not the answer I think. There is no answer.

Tks for your reply, but I don't agree with that premise.

It's my thought that it would be so much more useful to just direct them to the sticky, thus teaching how to actually Search the forum vs "here's yer link".

I see it as training. You and I search for answers first, don't we? But the difference is, we know how (Google) - new users do not. Most try the obvious, which does not work, and then create a thread. The OP being a perfect example.

/pet peeve/ hijack/ rant over/

I am really hoping there is a TSP that comes out about this - every 5th gen I've seen has the paint scraped/rubbed off in that area

You are crackin' me up! It appears our Engineer has lost all hope

Don't forget- the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one.

There is no answer.

sure there is! Better search!

I find it interesting how 'local rules' trump in this regard. I've never been on a forum that had as many search police as this, and infact some forums dump on posters for reviving old threads and prefer new ones created!

Don't worry about 1engineer-

He's been cranky ever since that Mt Biking accident...
