Yeah...like I said, never had to put it in 4wd and go above 60 mph since I only use it when the snow is deep, which I dont think anyone should be going over 60mph in (especially all the idiots in the DC Metro area).
 
How about back to the topic of 4WD? If I can never switch to 4HI going faster then 5MPH. Even going at 5MHP, it's still hit and miss. I would say I may be able get it into 4HI one of of ten tries. The only sure way to get it into 4HI is to drive in reverse slowly.

Any guess why my 4Runner is behaving in such way?

I have found that when moving, I have to back off on the gas sometimes to get 4wd HI to engage. I have noticed it works best when traveling straight ahead, there is often more of a delay if I try to engage while turning. I have also noted that if shifting to 4WD HI while sitting still, it helps to shift into neutral after changing the selector knob position.
