Congrats on the car. I'm sure you'll like it.
But I do need to jump in with a few observations to set the record straight.
Deposits mean absolutely nothing. The purpose of a deposit is to tie you emotionally to the purchase. A deposit does not keep a dealer from selling the car out from under you, changing a price or just giving you a hard time when they've sold the car to somebody else and want to apply that deposit to a Kia Rio.
The price you pay is only between you and your SO. If you can justify it to yourself, then the price is right.
Only you (and your SO) need to like the color. You shouldn't care what others think.
When are you (maybe) getting the car?
BTW, if you think US cars have bad resale values then you haven't priced a two or three year old German car. And reliability in US cars has improved dramatically.

For the sake of being civil I will leave it at this. Paying 57k is financial insanity, imo. Spending too much is never a smart choice no matter how much money you do or dont have.

Seriously, he is probably not far off or spending too much for this car. I would not personally, insanity is closer to my feeling as well, but the MSRP was probably $51-$52 ish - add a few extras, taxes and registration = EASY an extra $5k, so there you are - $57k - out the door. Most people looking for a Pro have no issue paying MSRP. But that is also why I personally don't want a Pro, something about paying MSRP on a car just sounds like a kick in the nuts - but that seems to be the world these Trims play in.

At around $45k for a trdp in the past, there was not much competition in terms of relibility, prowess etc as far as apples to apples but...but... at almost 60k there is plenty. From barely used Landcruisers to wait.... wait... not just g500's but AMG g55s and g63s. And don't even get at me re: cost of maintenance of those (its not bad!, i have owned two in the past).
Anyways, it was even dumb to compare an x3 or the mecan to the 4runner...

I have a 2019 sr5 4x4 as well... Unless you added one... We don't have locking diffs... Meaning it won't do the same thing. Not worth 15K extra to me... But it's literally the only thing the higher trim levels have that i would like because i do off-road several times a week.... But that wasn't enough to make me pay thousands more on a higher trim level.

They charge it because people like him will pay it. Which sucks for the rest of you looking for a step up in trim but dont want to shell out massive money for a 10yr old underpowered but reliable and fun vehicle.
I paid less for a FULLY loaded 2019 4 door JL rubicon.

I never thought I would ever pay the $38k I paid for mine, lol.
As for 57 thousand, love 4runners, my favorite car ever (as in reality of what I will be able to own and drive as a daily driver), but part of that love is also the price point for what you get.
