How long is the tool for removing the spare tire?

I bought my 97 4Runner about a month ago, and after doing some looking, the factory spare tire removal tool is nowhere to be found.

From the reading I've done here, a 3/8 extension will also lower the tire down. I have some extensions, but none long enough.

How long is the tool for lowering the spare tire? Going to stop by harbor freight sometime this week and need to know how long of an extension to buy.

Buy an 18" extension and you can raise/lower it with no problem. I had the same situation.
