How low can you go?

When I fill up the computer reads around 450 miles to go. The computer says its getting around 22mpgs, I have only checked it one time after a highway trip and I got 25mpgs. Gotta love the V6.

Has the fuel economy number stated by your computer dropped? I'm pretty sure the computer just takes your average fuel economy multiplied by the estimated volume of fuel in the tank to get the number for range. The longer you go without resetting the fuel economy number, the closer to "acutal" it is (not that its giving you a correct value, but it will level off at some number based on your driving habits).

Maybe I'll try that , I'm alway's resetting it for no apparent reason except playing around. I'll leave it alone for a while and see what happen's.

I would not recommend letting your fuel go that low because all of the crud in the bottom of your tank will go through the injectors and potentially cause problems.

In alot of vehicles the pickup tube with filter doesn't sit on the bottom of the tank and if you drove your Runner til it died you'd still have over a gallon of gas in the tank. Their not designed to go dry.
