How man 3G'S have functioning A/C?

96 286,423 miles and a/c works great....I did have to replace the expansion valve at 223,500 miles and also the receiver drier since I had to crack the system open for the ev. Cleaned the evaporator core cause already in there for the ev replace.
99 202,xxx or something miles a/c also works great, no work needed so far.

1999, 220k miles. still blows ice cold, but my "mode" and "off" button are becoming finicky and only work occasionally

I just picked up a 2000 SR5 with 175,000 for $3000. Ice cold ac and extremely hot heat. I jumped on it quick.

I will do that thank you very much.... i'll keep you all posted.. is that an expensive item? I dont have the space or the tools to do a lot of major work... I also have a "overheating smell" so you might be on the money.

The stereo was one of the first things to go. 3- or 4 H/U's ago .. it was going to be a bench radio- power it up with a 12v supply- but it got thrown out by mistake... you know... you put something in a box that you dont mean to throw out... but you do anyhow...

As far as the OP's question , mine works - added a little R134 a year or so ago and cleaned the condenser a month or so ago.
It's OK , but nowhere as good as the one on the '94 Land Cruiser I had.
This summer all have had to work their coils off, including the house ...

Yes that was in recirculate mode. If measured on normal, it's usually about 5-10 degrees warmer.

Your LC used R12. They were colder.

TL-DR... Replace your fan clutch with Aisin FCT-013 if your AC changes based on vehicle speed.
When I bought my '99 with ~245k miles a few months ago, temps were just starting to hit the mid 90s in CenTex. The first time I had it in stop and go traffic with the AC on, the temp gauge started rising.
$#!&, turn off AC, turn on heat full blast. This happened a few more times. Overheating when the engine was working hard at low speed going up hills.
During that time, the AC was mostly 'meh', and would be barely cool when stopped and idling.
Put in a new fan clutch and BAM, great cold AC, and solid steady engine temps even with the heat wave the last couple weeks of 100+ temps.
I guess the old fan clutch wasn't up to the task of moving enough air through all three layers:
Trans Cooler || AC Condenser || Radiator

It's not your AC, it's your fan clutch.

It's a very easy job requiring just basic hand tools.
