How many of you running 285's?

So I have a 98 limited which is auto trans and has stock gearing, got a 3" suspension and 3" body and I'm running 285/75/16 previously was using 31/10.5/15. My question is how much of you noticed power loss while using 285's?

Quite a bit on the highway. I live in WA State and go over the mountains quite a bit...that's where I really notice it.

I noticed some power loss but nothing too bad , lost a couple of mpgs though .
You could always regear to bring it back close to stock .

I noticed a minor difference when switching to 285's not bad at all when on flat land. I could really feel it when going up hill (2000ft-9000ft), on long steep grades especially.

In my opinion the 3.4's power with stock gearing is decent. -but could definitely use some extra ponies.

I ran 295/70/17 on my last runner and loss of power wasn't to bad, but man with the 285/75/17's I've noticed a major loss of power!! SC or regearing the future for sure!!

A bit of loss but mainly noticeable in the mountains.

I have no plans to regear.

Hopefully in the near future I will regear, planning on goin 5.29 as where I live is mostly hills and DAMN It sucks rite now lol, also don't have the funds for a sc at the moment so I'm tryna find every possible way to gain some ponies, you guys think if I get a new cat and a better free flow muffler I can get a few hp? Or it wouldn't matter

Hawn, save up fo da gears. U will b more than satisfied. Bring the gears back to stock and then work on the motor. Less stress on da motor Das y.

Stock gearing 4:30 ratio, I have 295's now but with 285 I felt little power loss but like Brian said mostly noticed when I was driving in mountains and. I don't plan on regearing. Even when I had 35's I felt a little power loss.

4.30s with 285s and it has more umph than my 265s and 4.10s. It may be more noticeable at highway speeds but I don't notice any difference except my lifted 4runner pulls harder to 70 than my stocker.

I noticed a significant loss in efficiency when I went for 265-70-17 to 285-70-17.

I have 4:10's and a tuned supercharger...

My horsepower, like yours, stayed the same though ;-)
