How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

Alright, this is my first post here and basically I just want to know how badly we got taken for a ride. First off, let me say I’m stoked to be a 4Runner owner and can’t wait to drive it. But I think my wife may have bought it impulsively and we probably got screwed. I’m in the military and deployed overseas, she is at home in Tampa.

The 4Runner is a 2018 Limited 4 x 2 (I know, I know. But the wife didn’t care about 4 wheel drive).
Options:
Automatic running boards... $1500
Carpet mats... $329
Clear paint protection... $199
Leather trim 50/50 split fold/flat seats... $1365
Toyoguard... $699
I’m not sure if I’m actually seeing the whole options sheet because it has navigation and I thought that was an option.

MSRP before options... $42,725
Subtotal... $46,757
Total plus dealer fees... $47,752
Total she paid... $45,963? I can’t remember. But I think that was it.

Here’s another factor. They gave us $11,300 ish for our trade-in, a dumpster-fire 2012 V6 Camaro which is absolutely not worth that much. It needed tons of work done on it.

Anyway, had I been there this whole process would have gone a lot differently. I think some dealerships in military towns know how to take advantage of the service members and spouses when they come in and don’t know much about buying a car. And my wife is too proud to ask me for help and she also thinks I’m too busy over here to worry about money-related stuff, which is partially true.

So yeah, any opinions on how badly we got hosed?

Are leather seats really an option on a limited? Doesn't really sound like you got a great deal price wise but if you came out ahead on the trade in it probably worked out to a decent deal.

We had been looking at used 5th gens forever, and finally gave up on finding a used deal that we were comfortable with. Moved on to trying to find the best deal we could on a new 4x4. About 3 weeks ago we were able to locate a 2018 TRD OR with relatively few BS dealer adds. MSRP was $38,875. Paid $33,450 +TTL. $35,998 OTD with no trade.

Wife really wanted leather, but figured adding aftermarket real leather was preferable to the cost adder to get the fake leather in the ORP

Our 2011 Trail had storm cloth seats, a magnet for German Shepherd fur.
We went with leather Katzkins installed at dealer for about $1500. It was taking me 15 minutes to vacuum out the back seat. Now I have a protective cover for the back seat so I can take it out a wipe it clean in 5 minutes. Front leather much more comfy than the storm cloth.

That’s what I’m trying to tell myself

I really don’t know about the seats. Maybe the fact that there is a third row is an option? The paper my wife sent a picture of didn’t look like the official window sticker so it may have been something the dealership made up.

Its the way the third row option is described.

Going back a few years...in April of 2016 I purchased a 2016 SR5 Premium 4X4 with basic Toyota running boards. After TTL I paid $40K exactly. This is a fair price in Southern California where I live. It’s a solid utility vehicle, worth every penny.

2018 TRD ORP with KDSS Super White color, MSRP was $43,100 negotiated down to $38,665 at Novato Toyota CA. Twas $41,xxx and change OTD. Pretty happy.

2019 ORP with KDSS, moonroof and all-weather floor mats
MSRP: $42,890
Offered and accepted: $38,650
Out the door: $41,278.42
Location: Wisconsin

I sent out an email to 6 different dealers in a 200 mile radius of my house on a Friday night asking for quotes for exactly what I wanted.
The next morning I received quotes back, took the lowest one and sent it back to all of them and basically had them in a bidding war for my business. I took the lowest quote from the last man standing and emailed my local dealer who had already told me in person that they could get me anything I wanted and beat anyone's price. I got the deal done while eating pancakes and watching cartoons. My new 4Runner will be disembarking in Seattle in 6 weeks.

The internet is a powerful tool, ay? You got an outstanding deal! I had my heart set on a black ORP with moonroof and KDSS, best i could do was $40,212 + TTL.
I was happy to end the search, and get a new truck, but reading this thread makes it seem like i hardly got a deal at all.

It can be had for less than that. That's the MSRP in Canada for a TRDOR. In Quebec, MSRP is about 49500.

I think it could be had for about 45000 CA$.

I just can't wrap my head around buying a new vehicle so expensive on gas. what if gas price goes up like crazy 5 years from now as I'd like to keep the truck 10 years... I could happen in Canada. You guys in the US still have a good deal on gas.

I can’t seem to get a deal or break on anything in my area (northern BC) I’m even willing to travel 600-800km and yet everyone is basically the same at $51k OTD for an Off-road package (they even “winterize” then up here adding $1,200-$1,600). Any advice for someone in BC? Know any good dealerships willing to work with me here? Feel like I’m running out of options.

Nice deal - congrats!. Curious to know which dealer. My daughter lives in Madison and may be in the market for a Toyota shortly. She has an old Highlander she gets serviced at Smart in the Madison area....no idea how they are on price for new cars.

Took our first trip to Devil's Lake when we were out visiting her a few weeks ago - beautiful. Not too far from Lodi.

How's this deal?

2018 SR5 4wd black with sand beige cloth interior and running boards for $33,821+TTL. OTD should be $36,235. MSRP is $38,523. Dealer says he priced it $2,500 under invoice.

2019 Limited

2019 Limited, Blizzard Pearl, sand Beige, 3rd row, roof rack cross bars, running boards, mud guards, all weather floor liners - MSRP - $48247. Sale price $44005 + Tax/registration etc. in Centennial, CO

Thanks! Yep, Smart is where I ended up ordering from. East gave up on the bidding pretty quickly. If she buys through internet sales, ask for Rodney. Zachary at Heiser in Milwaukee was helpful too.

Glad you enjoyed Devil's Lake! The Lodi area is a real jem, nice cruising roads but keep an eye out for deer and tractors. Good luck with her Toyota purchase!

I’ve just took a loan recently to paint my car: Rolf:. If you need money for a small repair just take a payday loan and it will be enough for you. It’s fast and for the sums up to $1000 the interest rate is absurdly small. Here’s an example paydayloansinvirginia.com, Just open it in one tab and open your bank’s terms in another and check the difference. I recently bought a ps4 on my loan money as well. The agencies don’t ask many questions.

Can't tell if serious but if you need a loan for a PS4 you got bigger issues.
