How much did you spend to Re Gear?

I am tired of my slow 4runner on 33's and have been contemplating 295 tires as well. Looking at moving to 4.88's. So my question is, how much did you guys spend to re gear the front and rear diffs.

I have the rear E locker. I want to know what I should pay approximately to get this done at the local shop.

It will still be slow....

Regearing will definitely help with the power getting back to stock and a better power band for hills and such, but you will still only be at stockish power, which isn't very powerful. If you don't want to be slow I'd suggest a supercharger. It will give you the much needed/wanted hp, rather than returning the power back to stock.

Otherwise if you don't want to deal with a supercharger and all that goes with it, regearing can be anywhere from around $800-2k pending if you get lockers and buy complete 3rd's. I think most people spend about $1200 by getting just diffs from ECGS, but adding ARB's or the such will really add to the price.

ARB with 4.88s from ECGS will run you 1500.

E-locker, you're just regearing. Get on East Coast Gear Supply's website and look. Best people to deal with, and a 5 year warranty.

Last year, I spent about $3500 on parts alone. Front & rear diffs built with 5.29's and ARB lockers from ECGS. Also included air compressor, gear lube, gaskets and seals.

I still get crap from my wife for spending more on that than on her wedding ring. But that was 21 years ago, so that shouldn't count, right?

Slee Off Road here in CO quoted me $830 to regear the rear diff (e-locker) to 4.88. That is if I bring the 3rd member in off the truck. I thought that was a really good price. FWIW, 4wheel parts quoted me $1500 for the same job. Front diff, I lucked out and found one on craigslist
