How much power?

Thanks [MENTION=115347]gamefreakgc[/MENTION]. The 2.0 pulley was a no go based on tests I've seen. Looks like the 2.1 is at the limits of efficiency for these. Porting the SC might be interesting, but what it really boils down to for me is the characteristic of the engine. They make power late in the RPM band and have a short red line at 5500 so there's not a lot of meat to work with there.

The speed governor is something on my list. I hit 110 real quick in 3rd.

I'm considering one of the Transgo shift kits at some point.

I've been trying to unlock the secrets of efficiency for 2.0" and smaller pulleys. I think porting and a bigger intake is the key. Back in the day people were using 1.7" pulleys and pushing 15 PSI out of the TRD blowers. I couldn't surpass 11.5 with a stock intake but I later learned the intake has some major restrictions. I may even swap out the entire intake at some point to 3". I know it can be done just trying to piece it all back together.
 
How will the speed limiter be removed? And $120 spark plug wires?

Pro Spark Plug Wire Set - 5VZ(96-04)

They are roughly twice the size as the stock wires. Obviously, the wires only affect cylinders 2, 4 and 6 but when I add nitrous I need as hot a spark as possible to ensure good combustion each time. I'm already running IK24's which are 3 steps colder than stock plugs. I will just need to regap to around 0.025-0.030.

URD sells the speed governor removal box. URD Speed Unlimiter - Underdog Racing Development. It's necessary to do a true dyno run for automatics in 3rd gear.
 
Magnecors are nice, but yikes. I wonder if one can source just the boots and coil connectors separately. Has anyone done something like a MSD DIS-4 to actually "juice up" the coils or are the OEM coils robust enough?

Not that I'm aware of. The K&N intake disrupts the MAF flow and makes it run lean, the Airaid tube (which is what I have) narrows down to 60 mm at the throttle body which is around 2.4" inches (I ported mine to 64mm) and the only other one I've seen is the AFE Power intake but not sure of the tube diameter. Once I go to a larger intake tube the MAF needs to be tuned for the larger size and "slower" flow so the work scares most people off.
 
Yeah the MAF can be an issue. In my recent testing I dropped from a 640ml/min meth nozzle to a 520ml/min to avoid some bogging I was having in lower RPM.

In my 2nd gear (auto) WOT testing I've gotten a P0100 MAF airflow code twice now. I may try cleaning it.

I was told the OEM coils give a pretty good spark and would not see much improvement with an MSD igntition system. Spark is more of an insurance sort of thing rather than a power adder unless you are moving from a distributor to coil pack/MSD system.
 
I’ve seen a few threads where they converted from wasted spark to coil on plug. All you do really is parallel the coil wires so both coils spark at the same time.

Can you post some links, I'm curious about the conversion. Technically it would still be waste-fire, since those additional coils will still be fired during a "wrong" stroke.
 
I ran the 2.0 pulley. It did increase power with the proper amount of water meth to cool things down. I also used tribodyne nose cone oil to help the bearings since they are spinning pretty fast. The supercharger was ported and polished as well. I ran a 1.8 pulley as well but it was difficult to keep the belt from slipping and I didnt see hardly any power increase. If you are considering going to a 2.0 pulley then u are reaching the limit of the trd supercharger. I really would encourage just going turbo. The price you can get selling a used supercharger would make a cx racing kit almost a direct trade. Just the reduced load on the accessory drive not turning a supercharger vs a turbo at the same boost levels will be a good 40hp or more with a turbo not including the increased efficiency of the cooler charge air. A LS swap is a ton of work and money. I wouldn't recommend it.

No I ended up selling the vehicle. The 3rd gen wasnt quite big enough for my needs.
