My 5th 4Runner, love it, yeah miss a few things from the 4th Gens I had, but overall still the best vehicle out there. besides a Land Cruiser, which I simply cannot afford. beyond that, it does everything well, and that is what Toyota is, they are vanilla. but vanilla is good stuff.

I am a long time Toyota fan. I have a 1994 LC with 258,000 miles with NO TROUBLE. I just can't justify $68,000 for a new one. I did go with the 2011 4x4 SR5 with heated leather. I am very satisfied with the vehicle and look forward to a happy life with it. I am hoping to get the same trouble free mileage out of my first 4runner. :bluejump:

I am very happy with everything on my TE. It is what it is said too be. Not over promised and under delivered ... like everybody else. Regardless of half-wit reporter comparisons; it's an offroad vehicle with manners. With a lift and a decent set of tires, it's on par with almost anybody offroad, and still a civilized citizen otherwise. It's the only genuine hard-core off-road vehicle with class you can buy in this country.

Funny, that is the wife's car. Althought the T4R limited is a big step up from the Xterra I was driving I still wish it had the memory seats and automatic wipers. The items that the T4R does have like the bimmer (cruise, heated seats for instance) don't work quite as well as the bimmer.
Don't get me wrong, they work and I am very satisfied and plan on keeping the T4R for many years, but there is a difference in german engineering and japanese engineering. Of course to get the comparable size and power I would need to get an X5 for $20k more instead of the 4runner.

The 2010 4Runner is not a perfect vehicle, I agree, I did buy a Limited, and am 90% happy, why in hell they did away with the power locking rear tail gate, hidden radio antenna, locking gas cap, and V-8 engine is totally beyond me, it’s like 2 steps forward and 4 steps backwards, it’s a great vehicle, but to go backwards on a few things just does not make any sense to me (and others), this is not “NEGITIVE” at all, this is called constructive criticism, right?

Instead of being a pessimist you need to look at the things they did improve over the 2009 4Runner Limited and possible reasons why they cut out some things.Did you know what you were buying before you bought it and what other vehicle compared at that price?Toyota has a mid size SUV with all that BLING and alot more and it's called the GX460!
The 150 frame that came from the Land Cruiser lineage that is used on the 5th Gens is much stronger and more solid then the old 120 frame. A few of the 120 frames had some problems with the fronts buckling with the dreaded fender bulge and motor mount failures after hardcore offroading.
The newly redesigned V6 engine used in these are state of the art at a higher cost to Toyota I'm sure with the roller drivetrain and exhaust vvt-i to go along with the other engiine improvements and bigger stronger rear diff.
Me personally ,I would trade the missing bling for a stronger frame and drivetrain any day of the week.Besides that ,Toyota is known for upgrading at mid Gen refreshes to entice new buyers and those on the fence. I don't expect anything different with the 5th Gens. Expect at least the new 6sp tranny and possibly the 4.6L V8 within a few years.
I won't even go into the current world economic crisis or the price of the Yen that challenged Toyota's designers and bean counters. I believe that the 4Runner will not merely endure; it will prevail.
It's been almost a year and 19k miles and I would'nt trade mine for anything else out there.........period.
