How to make white front marker lights in 2012 headlights the least invasive way.

I need to convert stock orange front markers to white. Unfortunately in Poland front markers must be white, not orange. The track passed safety inspection but with the verbal note "that orange markers have to be white". While I'm still on USA plates, I'm OK, but as soon as I register the truck with Polish plates I will be an easy target for any highway patrol.

So I need to do it this month and I want to do it in the least "invasive" way. So far I know two options:

1. Open the lamp (the oven technique), remove the orange plastic marker bulb cover and glue the lamp back

2. Add white led marker lamp (cheep china stuff from ebay) and mount it to the plastic front bumper cover. Then cut the original wire going to position light and connect it with the new "bumper cover" light. The original marker can be connected with blinker circuit this way converting illegal front orange marker to legal front blinker.

While the option 1 does not require any electrical changes, it requires opening the lamp and this is quite surgery - if done wrong can cause fogging.

Option 2 is very simply mechanical and does not require any changes to headlight, only minor electrical work.

From my previous posts you can tell that I am not afraid of any electrical changes (I have master degree in electrical engineering BTW), but I am quite hesitant to split perfectly good lamp. So I'm leaning to option 2, but before I start, maybe someone have better ideas.

I changed my mind. I'm going for option 1 for now. There are few reasons: first it is f@#$% cold here and I wouldn't have much fun doing electrical work under the hood while it's snowing on my head. In order to do it right and not screw up the system all connections would have to be waterproof, not just by splicing like some garage shop would do.

On the other hand I have a spare set of headlights I bought some time ago. In my new house here the oven is small and will not fit the lamp inside so lucky me, I will not be able to screw up my laps. Instead I found a local shop who is specializing with projector conversion. They would take the job of opening the lamp, removing the orange plastic trim and put the lamp together. With 12 months warranty - that's more than I have now :-)

Again, unless someone has better idea :yo:
