i am just going to start this thread today, but not post very much for now since i just got home from my trip, i will post pic and the story of the whole trip tomorrow when i unpack everything and clean the guns.... i up loaded the pic on my computer and have about 30 id like to share.... photobucket them tomorrow! stay tuned...

i dont care if this gets moved into gallery page but just wanted to have the 3rd gen guys look at it 1st!

how many gal. does the 4runner gas tank hold? 18.5? yes i put 18 gal in as i costed into the station... are you guys smart enough to figure out how much gas cost me there?

it was really nice being out on the farm, but when it started raining.... we were soaking wet walking about 6 miles a day... in 35 deg weather, rain and snow all day!

Wow, I have actually been there. The corn palace capital of the world. I remember going to a great native american historical site and a great hunting store, Cabelas. I also remember it be very cold when I was there in June.

It was great to see some great pictures from there again.

I went out to Burlington, CO Pheasant hunting for the Colorado opener this past weekend. Got 3 on Saturday, but it got really windy on Sunday and I didn't get anything by lunchtime, so I came home early.

The 3rd gen makes a good upland hunting vehicle, no? I know a guy on a hunting dog forum who camo'd his entire 3rd gen for upland hunting. Looked pretty dang sweet, actually.

Here's a couple of pics of my rig from a December hunt 2 years ago when CO got hammered by a couple of snowstorms. I was there just between the storms (drove home in the beginnings of the 2nd one). Truck was a mess by the time we left (these pics were shortly after getting there).

LIke you, I am an avid hunter and fly-fisher. I am also a gear junkie. For me the T4R is the perfect vehicle: short wheel base and enough ground clearance that I can get pretty much anywhere I want to go; enough room for me, a buddy, a couple of dogs and gear for a weekend (with a basket on top); and, reliability knowing that if I have a mechanical breakdown I can get the thing fixed just about anywhere.

Too bad they stopped making them the way they used to (Gen 3). I can't get fired-up about the new ones and I never get tired of jumping in my 02, be it off for an adventure "up north" or heading out to run errands for my wife.

Looks like a fun time. I had a 4Runner, but the main reason I got the Tacoma was, because I hated cleaning up the cargo area after a hunting trip. Muddy boots, bloody carcass, etc. Both great vehicles, though.

HNTMUP - I agree with you on the 4th Gen's. However, the new 4th Gen, the Trails Edition, seems very promising. Advanced ATRAC, built-in portable Tom Tom, better looking wheels, and an E-LOCKER!
