Hurt4x's the tan truck

My 4runner has been sold for reasons no other than me desperately wanting a 79-83 pickup. But i like this place so ill stick around in the "all other" section :thumb3: I came across this 82' with a few good parts and a rust free frame.

As it sits now
-1982 22r carb'd with CA emissions.
-bobbed bed
-E-locker front with longfield 30 spline shafts
-open rear (was welded but I've swapped 3rds already)
-single case with 4.7's
-3in lift springs front w/ 5in trail gear shackles
-bastard pack of stock springs rear W/ 6in trail gear shackles
-35 in km2's
-high steer W/ trail gear super metal studs and TG hydro assist
-4.10's


Future plans
-swap rear springs up front
-decide what to do with the rear springs, chevy 63's are out of the question since the rear of the frame is chopped at the factory shackle hanger
-35-36's
-4.88's
-E-locker for rear
-dual fuel kit from gotpropane
-extend front bumpstops
-rework PS reservoir

already scored a pretty good deal on my steering.
Got my pump, brackets, tapped box,massive PS reservoir, highsteer arms, tie rod, draglink, hydro assist ram and lines.

Now i just need to do my RUF swap to clear the hi-steer!

yep that's the one. I wasn't sure if I'd need hydro assist at 35's but i figured it cant hurt!

Absolutely, you will love it. I really need it with my 37's, sometimes I get into spots where I literally cannot turn the wheel.

Wow nice Find! Those trucks are the epitome of Toyota's reliability in building 4x4s!

I finished up everything at work a little early, so I clocked out early and started working on a new cross-member to replace the low hanging factory one.

I started with 1/2x4" flat stock and cut 3/4 of the way through to make my bends. Still working on getting everything just right, and it will probably be a PITA to get all my holes to line up just right.

Took the truck for its first "trail Ride" today to richland rd. The one thing i learned; KEEP YOUR FINGERS OUT OF THE STEERING WHEEL OR YOU WILL BREAK THEM wheeling with manual steering. other than that the truck did good. It didn't have any problems with trying to flood on hills like i expected it to. Anyways here's some poser shots.

Not many updates, haven't had too much time lately with the holidays and what not. I should be dropping it off to get my hi-steer and hydro assist done this week.

I replaced my factory dull yellow dome light bulb with a LED and man does it light up that little cab.

Also got some fresh powder coating on my front bumper.

PS swap, high steer, hydro assist done. Also moved the axle forward 1", lengthened the front drive shaft and put on new front springs.
Should be picking it up in the next day or two!

Still need to put on my u-bolt flip,new shocks, new shock mounts and a few other things.

I have to figure out something to do about limiting ram travel. Other than that everything worked well.

How close do you think this is to the ring gear?

It is damn close if not hitting. I would be surprised if it is not rubbing. My buddy smashed a hole in his cover and chipped a few teeth.

Well.. If you jack it up and have someone spin the tires while you put your ear to it, it should be obvious if it is or not

^this is what i need, especially with my ram mount being welded to the cover.
