HVAC controls gone haywire

My 99 4runner limited HVAC controls have a mind of their own. I am having trouble turning the A/C on or off, changing the areas for the fan to blow, and the fan likes to change speeds by itself. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to any of these problems. Anybody have any thoughts?

Pretty common problem for us Limited folk.
